The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

I think that in the progression of a society, citizens are the product of their governments to a point of development, and then the governments start to become the product of their citizens in attempts to maintain holds on position via popular opinion rather than governing based upon law and logic. We are at the latter, IMHO. ....
Good post Mëds, and I think we can add that the corporate world has gone the same way with short outlooks based on the next report. "Gotta show a bigger profit" or our stock will fall, and the CEO will make less money.
Uneducated masses - yes, that's a problem. Until recently, I hadn't realized just how uneducated / illiterate (about 1/2) of the population is. I don't see that improving anytime soon, and with the advent of AI, it will likely get worse.
Education, or lack thereof, especially in the rural red states is the cancer of America and it’s a very large group. It’s shocking hearing some of the shit they believe, formimg the basis of their weird as fuck opinions, Trump the grifter has completely exploited this, tapped into it. Always the opportunist.
Anyhow, this is what years of hammering in WWF, reality tv shows, marvel comics, fast food blah, blah, blah into their farenheit 451 brains has done, all in the name of big box store, corporate America, billionaires. Save the Rich, dumb down the mid class. The Billionaires and their sheeple. They certainly do not want the sheeple to start growing a brain. The cattle must remain for this current state of a drying empire to die. I see no resolution to this. Education is the problem in the states, IMO

Illiteracy rates are about the same in Canada.
Oh yeah, I see it everyday. The Maple MAGA - Timmy Trumps are everywhere up here too, and are in general, or what I have found to be, angry people, miserable to the bone, very opinionated but opinions are somewhat uneducated. Fact checking isn’t their strong suit. They just want to hear what their miserable minds want to hear

You seem to be assuming that the illiterate are only on "one side".
Well, good point, they are. I guess, originally, I was referring to how stats show the red states being the areas of America for having the highest amount of “poorly educated”. At least this is what I’m hearing/reading.

In short, Trump is a version of Trudeau. lol. The righty version. The extreme response.
Looking at this quote from a different angle:
“Intelligent, objective, people, (Non- MAGA) those who thoughtfully considered the matters at hand, saw that for what it was. The under-educated masses (MAGA) could not see the forest for the trees.” - Mëds
Objectivity - Maintaining one's objectivity is the most important job of a judge. Fuck that. Pick a side boys, get on board. The middle? You’re the new woke now
Trump (sadly) is also a product of a badly mangled Democratic Party. The -other- uneducated masses were lining up behind AOC and Biden Harris, etc. The middle had no good alternatives. I don’t understand how a nation of 400 million cannot find better candidates on any side. They all get failing grades ever since Reagan, imo.
Regarding Objectivity and sides, how about we use logic, morals and the law instead?
I think the gyst of what’s wrong is immigration in which I am no fan of as well, but immigration over the last few decades isn’t a party problem even though the right like to put this blame squarely on the left. To believe that is what I have a problem with. It’s just people needing to have a boogeyman for all that’s wrong. Immigration has been the result of the demise of the condition of third world regions around the world since world war 2.

Where are you getting this info Corn?
Level 3: The minimum proficiency for everyday life, allowing for understanding of more complex texts, interpreting information, and identifying bias
"Literacy: 51% of Canadians are at Level 3 or above" https://decoda.ca/insights-from-canadas ... or%20below.
