Ovechkin looked like a table hockey player who could still shoot it from his spot last year, but Crosby and Malkin still skated and played their game very effectively.Tciso wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2026 8:10 amI always expected Crosby, Malkin and Ovi to fall off after 35. The OF is Le Mieux!
Bunch of Claudes in there, but no DRapers.

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
So sad for Lemieux22. He was a clutch performer in the playoffs and one of my faves back in the day. When I think of C.Lemieux, I can't help but to think of Blobby Mac here telling us how Claude rag dolled Trev16 and made him piss in his pants.
I saw an Avs vs Wings documentary like last year. They interviewed Draper33 and to this day, he said he did not forgive Claude. When I heard it, I felt it was so sad. I think there's power and healing in forgiveness, but Draper was still holding on to hard feelings.
Yes, Claude fuqed him up pretty bad and was a scumbag, but it was in the heat of the moment in an intense playoff game. D.McCarty made Claude eat his lunch. Wings went on to beat the Avs and win a couple Cups. It has been such a long time, let it go and move on. It was not like Claude raped his wife and killed children. Draper looks fine now; the scars & wounds have healed and he lives a healthy life. Move on and find the power and healing of forgiveness.
Man, I also saw this documentary on the Rangers 94 team. Yes, that Rangers team. There was a police officer who was a die hard Rangers fan, he got shot by a kid over a petty crime and become paralyzed. He lost the use of his legs and was forced to live the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Anyways, this officer and his family came out and said that they forgive this kid. They said that they don't want this hanging over the head of the kid and they wanted him to move on and live a good & productive life. Man, when I heart this, I was like that is power. That is love. That is healing. Kinda brings a tear to ur eye.
I gotta admit, I always wanted to see that 94 Nucks team win that Cup. I luved that team and if any Nucks team was going to win it, I would have wanted them to do it. After I heard this story about this officer, I didn't feel so bad about losing to the Rangers for that Cup now. It's ok, they can have it. That officer and Ranger fans can have it.
Sorry if I went off on my soapbox. RIP Lemieux22.

I wanted to say "that could be taken so many ways", but I was afraid it would be repeated as "Wids could be taken so many ways", and I said it anyways.

Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
With Gallagher all but confirming he wants to be traded for his last year and won’t be back in Montreal and is really open to coming to Vancouver, would you trade a 4th or 5th to get him for the year? Would he be one of those vets who could help our young team and help rebuild the culture.
The only HW the Canucks need

Depends why he fell out of the lineup.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2026 12:49 pm With Gallagher all but confirming he wants to be traded for his last year and won’t be back in Montreal and is really open to coming to Vancouver, would you trade a 4th or 5th to get him for the year? Somewhere in NW BC trying (yet again) to trade a(nother) Swede…..
Re: AROUND THE LEAGUE - 25-26
I would want the Canucks to send a 6/7 rounder only. The goal would be to trade him at TDL for a 4/5 rounder.Mëds wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2026 1:15 pmDepends why he fell out of the lineup.Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2026 12:49 pm With Gallagher all but confirming he wants to be traded for his last year and won’t be back in Montreal and is really open to coming to Vancouver, would you trade a 4th or 5th to get him for the year? Gallagher can come with a sweetener, not for an asset (even one as low as a 5th).Hockey Widow wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2026 12:49 pm With Gallagher all but confirming he wants to be traded for his last year and won’t be back in Montreal and is really open to coming to Vancouver, would you trade a 4th or 5th to get him for the year? He's only a liability to Montreal. 7 goals, 16 assists, healthy scratch throughout the playoffs. Make them pay to offload it.
The Montreal cap situation isn't bad (they've made lots of smart decisions), but its not unlimited. $11 million in cap space, probably about $6-6.5 million of that is going to go to Xhekaj and Dach. And they need to add another forward to get to 13. All very achievable, but I would think that they'd be interested in adding something to a group that appears ready to compete. Ideally a two way center, someone who can provide more offense than Danault and would mean Evans could be put down the lineup or over to the wing. Danault and Anderson are coming off the books a year from now, and they (with Gallagher) are the only two iffy contracts on the team -- but that means there's money to spend and if I could fit that money into next season's team (which you can do by moving Gallagher, and spend more if you move Montembeault), then you've increased your shot to compete for the cup by a fair amount.
They might even have an interest in EP40....

A washed up Brendan Gallagher is not the profile of an in demand for a courtesy pick asset at the trade deadline. He was worse than Evander Kane last year, and Kane plays a physical style (beat, not just bravely take beatings) that's more attractive at the deadline. Maybe that was Kane, maybe that was PA and JR.theman wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2026 1:24 pmI would want the Canucks to send a 6/7 rounder only.
