I think it's that he has been part of the front-office that collapsed a 50 win team to last place in the league. Sure, he's GM of Abby, but he's an AGM of the Canucks. Sometimes you need fresh blood.

Clean out the old, bring in the Gold.

A new era where the "SuperBoss" is given full control with none of the old regime hamstringing him.

Nothing against RJ personally.

It sounds like you're going to get your guy, Lever.

I get it but I still think it's totally unfair for the guy to be saddled with the failures of TFG.

Hope that doesn't hurt him elsewhere if that's the case. Seems like a good dude, good soldier who deserves better and hope he gets a chance elsewhere if it's the other guy we go with.

RJ is already an AGM with Vancouver while holding down the GM job in Abbotsford. No reason why Gold couldn't promote him full time to AGM in Vancouver, get him ready to take over the GM spot when Gold is ready to take over POHO.

But the word is that whoever they hire will have complete control on the management team he wants. RJ has relationships with that management team. Gold does not. Which one would find it easier to clean house?

I want a GM that other GMs respect and will do business with. I dont care who that is. When Allvin was neutered in the Hughes deal it sent a message. I got tired of hearing Allvin saying he tried but couldn't get a deal done. Like if you knew what was offered for Boeser you wouldn't believe him.

Well...as noted several times on this board...Gold is highly respected around hockey circles and has been for some time.

Yeah...brilliant argument.

Not in the way Gold is now in terms of overall ability..far more capable on a broad scope he is imo.

JR was handed gold keys.

Anyway...what the fuck ever...hire RJ, hire Marc fucking Bergevin....makes zero difference to me....I brought Golds name to this site 4 months ago as a conversation piece and one who would/could be a next step in our evolution in building a real front office and team and not one of you chumps bit (or even knew who the fuck he was).

And here he is in the final 2.

Waddya fucking know eh?

N e way.

I'm tired iof defending him.

Carry on...

And was it JR or Allvin who other teams talked to for the big stuff?

I don't think it is so much that you are "defending" Gold, as it are you are advocating for a clean slate with fresh blood.

It's a fight that definitely needs fighting when it comes to this organization and its fans (it's a shame that it can't be won on this HTMB).

I'm gonna pick on Nuckertuzzi here for a sec, but only because he is the most recent example of this.....

He wants Ryan Johnson to get a shot, but the reasoning is driven by sentiment for a guy who he thinks has "paid his dues" with the organization. He cites that Johnson has seen the failures and mistakes and will know how to avoid them.....but ultimately this comes down to the "Canuck Way" of going back to their roots. Unfortunately, those roots have 55 years of failure in them.

The one thing I like about Rutherford's latest babbling is that he says he wants a GM who is autonomous and then he plans to step back. That new GM needs to have fresh eyes, and frankly, he should clean house.

Currently.....

POHO: Rutherford - he's already stated he's leaving the role.
AGM: Cammi Granato - Heads up player development and oversees professional and amateur scouting.
AGM: Emilie Castonguay -Contracts (I believe)
AGM: Ryan Johnson - GM Abbotsford, with a history in player development with the organization.

IF (and it's a BIG one), Aquaman has finally given the green light to a full rebuild, and is willing to have the patience to see it through.....Then go scorched earth and fire them all. You can't tell me that JR and PA simply ignored everything they said and butchered this team on their own. It was a group effort.

The entire coaching staff should be axed as well.

Build this thing back up from the fucking ground.

Some people may not have liked Linden as a player, and saw him as the good ole boy fan favourite who was an optics hire into POHO. But I completely respect that he had the stones to say no to ownership, and enough self-respect walk away rather than acquiesce to a plan doomed to fail.

55 years, and maybe 10 of them iced a team that could make a dent as a competitor.....time to start working towards a new legacy.

The geriatric can want whatever the fuck he wants. Fuck him.

He has one foot out the door already and no one should give two shits about preserving a legacy in Vancouver for him..

He brought RJ in so that Abby could be just like his Canucks. Success was both squads being nothing more than AHL fodder.

Don't let the door slam them on the asses their way out of town..
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.
