L-GDT: Canucks host Utah - Dec 5, 6pm - SNP
There's nowhere to go but up!
Well, here we are... last place overall and rudderless. Mushyocrity has set in, and there are no solutions forthcoming. As Canucks fans, we are not shocked, surprised, or ever really all that upset. We are so used to this. What started as a promising season with hopes of a playoff round or two has us waiting for the bucket with the lotion to drop.
On the horizon, we have Hoglander and Demko returning. They will not save us. Midseason shuffling will not save us. Hughes alone will not save us. Clarise Starling and her Smith & Wesson Model 13 .357 Magnum revolver will not save us.
Lately, we've been able to wait until after the new year to get despondent about the season, but Christmas came early this year! Santa has given us all coal, and then shit down the chimney.
So why do we watch? Well, for me, it's Friday night in the frozen wasteland of Nebraska. But why would people shell out big bucks to watch the historic Vancouver-Utah rivalry? Tonight's game will be a lesson in how much pride this team can muster. They've had their rest, so will they come out and make a statement that there's still some 'thing' worthwhile here? Will they show management that they've got a solid crew and can turn things around? One game won't convince anyone, but for now - it's all we've got.

I would feel more despondent if we were 10th last. Being last overall feels kind of good actually. Will we finally have some luck with the lottery?
Why do we watch? Well Hughes of course, and I kind of like cheering for the Bainses and Karlsons of the team. And maybe we can still get a good year out of Kane or Sherwood that they fetch something at the deadline. But I'm not going to be glued to the TV.

Why the earlier start time? Does anyone know?
If the Canucks are half as inspired as Cornuck's thread starter, we might have a chance.

I believe it's to make it harder to get to the game or get home to watch it.Megaterio Llamas wrote: ↑Fri Dec 05, 2025 9:16 am Why the earlier start time? Does anyone know?

Thanks to cap enforced parity, we can still reach mid-pack and fuck up our lottery chances! Have you not been watching this team??JelloPuddingPop wrote: ↑Fri Dec 05, 2025 9:25 am Just a point of contention, I'm not sure dead last is Mushy-middle territory. That ship sank a while ago.

Atlantiscity.
As Corn suggests, no one can save us, not even the Captain of this Titanic. The stewards of this sunken ship can shuffle all the deck chairs that they want at the bottom.
Mammoth stomping tonight.
But I do look forward to the 12-2-6 winning streak in the final 20 games to fulfill the mushiocrity mandate.

You know that with everyone now on board with the tank the Canucks are gonna go on a winning streak? It’s how it works here.
