Let Patera shred.

Tanknucks Nation, Let's Go!
Yeah, management said Demko's on the road with them, but I wager more for moral support.

This is the Abby Goalie road trip.

The team will have to sweep the trip to have a chance at quieting the rumors. I don't see that happening.

God help us.

To sweep or be swept, that is the question.

Instead of a Mom or Dad road trip, the players should have an agents road trip.

You have to fill up the tank before you can flush your turds, right?

Kevin Lankinen will not travel with the team on the up coming road trip for personal reasons. Patera has been recalled. So what's going on here?

From the Province:

Time to trade: Jim Rutherford says Canucks need to get younger
Rutherford admits the team hasn't performed as expected so the future is now the focus. The team's unrestricted free agents are now available for trade.

“We have to make this team younger. We have to get this team going in a different direction from where we’ve been,” the Canucks’ veteran president of hockey operations told Postmedia on Tuesday morning, a day after general manager Patrik Allvin let the rest of the league know that the pending unrestricted free agents on the Canucks’ books are all available in a trade: in other words Kiefer Sherwood, Teddy Blueger, Evander Kane and Derek Forbort"

“I believe Quinn and his agent are aware of the direction we want to go. And they’re aware of the direction they want to go. Everybody wants to play on a winning team. But there’s different reasons why people make decisions,” he said.

There’s a lot material to read between the lines here.

Curious if this is to force Hughes hand. A hand that management reads loud and clear. One thing I do like about Rutherford, he’s cagey, wasn’t born yesterday.

Lot to unpack here but very telling of where their heads are out. Somewhat relieving that they are reading the tea leaves. The team needs major surgery.

Was Elmer cagey?

His hairdresser and Stuart that picked his suits at Moore's were definitely cagey....crafty even.

Cagey was Bob McCammon's handle.

The time is nigh Grossbart. I listen to offers right now on Quinn. Don't makexa Dog and Pony show out of it.

This is a valid concern, considering how well they've managed past dealings. Sadly, I don't see things changing this time around.

And maybe Hughes pulls a McDavid and agrees to a 2 year extension to give the club time to do this mini rebuild/retool/re-whatever.

But if the writing is on the wall the sooner we pull the trigger the better off we all are. Give the acquiring team this and next to have his services and work on an extension.

Too bad our UFA pool is so shitty. Not much there other than Sherwood. But we could trade Garland and ask Myers if he wants out a year before his trade protection changes. We could punt Demko or Lankinen but neither will fetch much. If either would waive. I mean we boxed our selves in. Nothing os substance available other than Hughes.

So what is the reason that Lankinen has taken a leave of absence? Some speculation is that he may have been asked if he would consider waiving his NMC. Others saying his poor play this season is the result of some personal issues and after the Calgary game he needed to step away to deal with it.

OK, who can start the best rumour?

History repeats itself, ever and always it seems.

Vegas has the right model, only your elite players get trade protection because they know players will sacrifice that in order to play somewhere that consistently is in the conversation as a contending team. They don’t box themselves in and can always move somebody out that will return decent value.

Marner
Eichel
Stone
Pietrangelo (out all season)

vs

E. Pettersson
Boeser
DeBrusk
Garland
Hronek
Myers
M. Pettersson
Demko
Lankinen

The only guy I’m giving trade protection to on our team is Hughes. None of the rest are worth both of their cap hit and the NTC/NMC.
