Re: Just Not ready
2nd carney hire - David Lametti, the retired Attorney General who covered up the SNC-Lavalin scandal and wrote the confidential legal and adjudicated wrong, interpretation of the Emergency Act for it's imposition. It is highly likely that his legal opinion given to Caucus on the Emergency Act was only verbal and never written
Note his 1st hire, Mendiccino, was the Minister of Public Safety who was key in imposing the illegal Emergency Act. He's the guy who told MP Rachel Dencho, a MILF BTW, that the Ottawa truckers were threatening to rape women in his response to her saying she walk by the protests daily and always felt safe.
Mendiccino is also a strong supporter of Isreal and came into conflict with the pro Palestine wing of the Party, Joly, Trudeau... after Oct 7th. The Muslim organizations who supported carney's leadership bid are already righting protest letters over Mendiccino's appointment.

Thought Carney gave a very good victory speech yesterday as well...
Watching either Trudeau or Carney and their ability to speak to their audience as compared to PP is striking...
Yeah. Incredible.
He's been giving political speeches for 2 months and you are accusing him of being scripted? I'm dying to hear what you have to say about a PP speech...
Condescending or someone who understands the crisis having had hands on experience with a number of them?
PP has had 21 years of living off the taxpayers dime and in that time has accomplished next to nothing other than having the speech he's been giving for the last 3 1/2 years down pat and being a punching bag for Harper ...
Re: Just Not ready
I'm sure Carney has given plenty of even more boring scripted speeches at the WEF.

Don't know much about him, but maybe the most qualified to speak on his role in SNC is Jody Wilson who tweeted;Topper wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 3:20 pm 2nd carney hire - David Lametti, the retired Attorney General who covered up the SNC-Lavalin scandal and wrote the confidential legal and adjudicated wrong, interpretation of the Emergency Act for it's imposition. As for the Freedom Convoy, legality aside I think organizors should be required to pay the cost to police it and to clean up after it and make whole any individual or business who suffered financial losses because of it.....
Some of the protests in BC over the past few years have cost taxpayers millions in clean up costs and policing costs and many were illegal...
We all have the right to law abiding protests, but not on tax payers dimes...
Re: Just Not ready
Let's see what a guy with oodles of business experience, making deals, spending other people's money and no political experience can do. Oh wait, that was Trump 8 years ago.

Re: Just Not ready
I disagree. When a government over-reaches to the extent that they did during the COVID pandemic, and impose restrictions on freedom without transparency or accountability, illegally mandating medical treatment of the individual, and endorsing the jack-booted police responses that we saw in many places.....at that point any cost for protest absolutely should come out of the government coffers at the expense of the taxpayers, and the government should be forced to admit that the costs incurred were needless had they functioned within their constitutional limitations.rikster wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 4:17 pm As for the Freedom Convoy, legality aside I think organizors should be required to pay the cost to police it and to clean up after it and make whole any individual or business who suffered financial losses because of it.....

Taxpayers need to wake the fuck up and actually recognize what they are letting happen by not holding elected officials to account.

Re: Just Not ready
Team Canada LOL The hypocrisy is costly, sad and fucked up as the void in Canadian Leadership is exposed by Premiers pulling the country in 10 directions. If you believe the messaging from Trump is chaotic, just look at the messaging from Canada.
Ontario has the most to lose with manufacturing moving to the US under Trump's tariffs, Doug Ford knows it and he isn't afraid to throw the rest of Canada under the bus in his actions.
Blanchette telling reporters that Quebec paid $7B for TMX and get nothing from Alberta oil so why would he want a pipeline east.

Protest all you like, that's a freedom we all have in our Charter of Rights, but don't expect taxpayers to cover the cost to clean up your mess...
$2 million plus for an illegal logging protest on the Island, $2.5 million spent to clean up a protest in Calgary, $9.3 million in Seattle etc, etc...
And much of it on overtime for the police or RCMP at a time when policing is underfunded..
And for what?
You thought the government over reached during Covid...well the majority of Canadians would tell you to wake up...
Re: Just Not ready
What were the illegal logging protestors protesting? The corporations doing the work? Illegally Protesting a private corporation is not the same as protesting illegal government mandates and over reach.rikster wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 9:32 amMëds wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 5:22 pmI disagree. I don’t think the majority would actually.
I think they went along because of the fear mongering WHO puppet governments. The vaccine would not have been nearly as widely accepted without the threat of loss of employment and limited access to society.
I worked in vaccine clinics giving people the jab. It certainly was not a small percentage of individuals who commented that they wish they didn’t have to take this mRNA vaccine but they couldn’t afford to lose their job.
Remove the government’s rhetoric and a woke media untruth and a minority of people would have endorsed the mandates and social restrictions.

Rikster not only speaks for "world leaders and the business (sic) communities"
... he also speaks for "the majority of Canadians".

Re: Just Not ready
Does that apply to all protests? Including Campuses?
What is the criteria used to determine if organizers pay or who is an organizer?
It seems well intentioned but I see a tool easy to abuse.

I could probably name a hundred acquaintances that were anti Vax, or against the ridiculous punishment inflicted on the untaxed, or those who declined to show their medical status. It's a pretty big portion of the population.Strangelove wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 3:17 pmRikster not only speaks for "world leaders and the business (sic) communities"

And, before you ask, I was 100% against making the vaccine mandatory. I only got the vaccine to keep my wife quiet. But, I boycotted any place requiring you show your status.
