“Just want to be back in the mix, in a routine and involved with it, so today’s a good step in that direction.”
Tyler Motte on his return to skating with the team

Insanity to send Rathbone to the minors and keep Hunt. I bet the real reason is with Hamonic coming back they had to clear Rathbone's 9.25K to fit him in.
How much would you like to bet?
($125K difference between York Hunt's cap hit and Boner's)
OEL must be banged up. Insanity to send Rathbone to the minors and keep Hunt.
OEL wasn't feeling well, so they gave him the day off (still expected to play tomorrow).
York Hunt is just a practice dummy.
Notice Burroughs on the left side there btw?
Like I said, he can play the left side, as can Schenn.
Yet you keep insisting they'll choose York Hunt over those two who are clearly above him on the depth chart.
What I insist is that Rathbone is better on the left side then all other options not named Quinn Hughes or Oliver Ekman Larsson and is no longer with the team because of their cap constraints. No other reason. Doubt there's much he can learn in Utica Abbotsford with Trent's gang.
There's a shitload that Rathbone can and still needs to learn in the minors. He can play big minutes in all situations and also gain strength and experience... rather than being sheltered for 12 minutes a game and getting blown up by real NHLers.
Cull can at least teach him how to kill penalties so he can actually be useful when he makes his way back up here.
What a dumb take.

What's dumb is trying to make him out to be what he isn't. He's an offensive defense man like Hughes. He's never going to be a stay at home only defense man or a penalty killing specialist. He wasn't getting "blown up" by real NHLers, (who writes like that), anyways. Sure, he was learning on the fly to some degree but by and large was getting better and without a regular partner.
Lets say he comes back in a month or so, all gussied up from his AHL experience and "mentoring" (another frivolous word), where's he going to be?
Third pairing, left defense behind OEL and Hughes.
Our minor league system isn't like the days of Bieksa and Kesler.
Who on the left side is going to PK besides OEL? Hughes?
Moron.
That's how it works.... like every other NHL team.
Is Green going to rely on 3 RHD on his PK units? Has that ever happened regularly if there aren't injuries?
So a 3rd pairing D can just play 12 minutes of offence a game? What happens when his side doesn't have the puck? A defenseman needs to know how to play um, defense?
When he comes back, he should be a better defenseman.
He wasn't getting better, he was getting worse.
I'm trying not to pile on, but fukc you are a fukin' dope.
Who writes like what? Gussied up? Fuck, are you an English major now teaching how people should write from the early 20th century in a fucking online hockey talk forum?
Hell are you going on about, moron?

Mr Aquilini would relate to Micky given his well known inclination toward being extremely impatient and all. And Mr Aquilini imagines all Canucks fans are as impatient as he is. You worry about trading Rathbone for 'immediate help' what with the Canucks being 'all in' this year. Perhaps a desperation move brings an Adam Clendening into the fold before we're completely out of the playoff picture?
