$8.25M per.
Wow. 11% of the cap on a player who had one great year, seems like a LOT of money to me.
I dunno Zed. Voracek has been .89 PPG since coming to Philly. A bit lower than Getzlaf over the same period (.96), better than E.Staal (.82), and pretty close to Perry (.90) and Kessel (.91).

Seems like he's in the right ballpark, especially since he'll only be 26 entering this season.

All valid points for sure. But still...seems risky to me to commit to 8 years. Not many players can keep playing at a high level for that length of time. My gut tells me that some of these LT deals will prove to be disasters, I just don't know which ones.

A little late on this -Alex Galchenyuk deal at $5.6 million for two years - AAV - $2.8 million. Seems like a steal.

It's a good second contract and he's still an RFA at the end of it which is when he'll likely sign a big contract if he's worth it!

This is what Benning means by buying UFA years.

And why we need young players making their way on to the roster on a regular basis, we can get production above the pay-grade!

I'm not convinced that Voracek is nearly the player that Getzlaf & Perry are. Getz is one of the best 5 centers in the world, and Perry is pretty much a shoe in for 30 goals and has shown that he can hit 40-50. Not to mention they helped the Ducks win a cup.

Nobody thinks the E. Staal and Kessel contracts are good ones.

Voracek is 0.82 PPG since joining the Flyers, with a career high of 23 goals.

(But he did put up 6 points in the all star game ;) )

No doubt he is a good player and has produced pretty well as a Flyer, but this deal is pretty crazy IMO, and when all is said and done it would not shock me if this deal ends up being worse than the Sbisa deal.

Fair enough, Keyzer. I guess the question for the Flyers is this: do they want to keep Voracek? If the answer is yes, this is the kind of deal that is required. Especially when they've shown that kind of commitment to Giroux. And I agree, Getzlaf and Perry seem to bring more of those "intangibles" we seem to be so fond of. But it's hard to argue with the production of a guy that is only 25. BTW, I haven't seen any mention of an NTC/NMC yet....

Leaves don't have the cap flexibility most think. Just over 2 million with Horton Hears a Who on the books. True, once the season starts they can IR him but ask the Flyers and Bruins how easy it is to stay cap compliant at the start of the year with a drag like that. They will be fine this year but if they are not able to move some more contracts they will not be able to afford Stamkos next summer.

Yeah the key for them will be getting as close to the cap as possible before LTIR'ing Horton. If they start the season $2M under the cap and then LTIR him, they will only be able to exceed the cap by a couple million. They also have 14 forwards right now (15 if you count Horton), so I imagine one or two guys will be waived/demoted before the end of camp.

Gillis/Gilman were excellent at this, get to the season as close as possible at the cap, then toss a guy like Salo on the LTIR to maximize his replacement value. It SHOULD be even easier for the leaves, because Horton isn't likely to play ever again, so they won't have to worry about getting cap compliant mid-season like we did.

And yeah, they'll have to ditch more than just Matthias and Spaling next summer if they want to give Stamkos $11M per.

Yet Benning is criticized for having the Canucks near the cap.......LOL.
Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

I see Benning being criticized for signing poor players to bad contracts .

I had to laugh when Ignitowski said that Sutter has a real edge to his game. He is basically as physical as Mason Raymond . A puff of smoke in a uniform .

Yeah, "The leaves have it worse" isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. And the way they are stockpiling draft picks (20 between 2015 and 2016), the rebuild might go faster for them than for us.

Whatever blows your skirt up dude . Your point makes as much sense as you constantly bringing up Keith Ballard and David Booth to rationalize all of Bennings blunders .
