None of Suess’s books are banned that’s misinformation, right wing clickbait and a red herring
The plight of sharecroppers and how they got fucked over and who did the fucking and who did the bending over that’s really the point.

.
It was no more banned than those Dr Seuss books you say weren't banned.
And I would never be in favour of banning books
... not even that piece of commie propaganda you're promoting.

Twice in one day I agree with you. No books should be banned!Strangelove wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 4:41 pm .

but you are wrong. No dr Seuss book has been banned by any school district in the US or Canada or the UK or even Dubai
However, Grapes of Wrath was banned in 1939 by several school districts though to be fair it’s not now banned anywhere anymore
And you really should read it
Hey Highmore just scored ! Yahoo

This is just a continuation of Toppers original red herring. Dr Suess books are not now nor have they ever been banned - period.
That’s a fact
Prove me wrong
( sorry, your links about individual libraries removing books does not constitute a ban. One of your links says they are moving those 6 books to the adult section)

Grapes of Wrath pulled from the shelves of a select few school districts.
Dr Seuss books pulled from the shelves of a bunch of public libraries.
Are you playing some kind of semantics game around the word "ban"?
And you've told me a few times now I should read your precious book.
What makes you so sure I haven't?

You gave yourself away when you called it commie propaganda. But having read the book and knowing what sharecropping was like for both black and white farmers, it makes me wonder why you can not imagine that if it was bad for white sharecroppers in the 1930s it was probably a lot worse for black sharecroppers and that perhaps having some kind of equity to balance out the inequality isn’t such an affront to your ideals

But I didn't call it that until AFTER you told me I should read it a few times.
To be honest, I never finished it (and not because it's commie propaganda).
I still have a copy of it in my house.
It came with a library of sorts my wife inherited... 22 years ago?
I read a bunch of the classics back then, but they've been gathering dust for a long time now.
I put in a room we call "the library" in the basement when we moved here, with floor to ceiling shelves.

If I'm honest I was gambling that you hadn't read it even though I assumed you probably had. You can be an honest to god pain in the ass to argue with but you are not "unread"Strangelove wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 8:42 pmBut I didn't call it that until AFTER you told me I should read it a few times.

I loved the alternating chapters between story and imagery.

Chapter seven is really cool. I think he might have broken every punctuation rule there is. Really5thhorseman wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 10:51 pm I loved the alternating chapters between story and imagery.
Fun watching kids flabbergasted at the idea you can break rules if you know how

Biden, who long has been known to put his foot in his mouth, fumbled his own estimate for how much his own plan might bring into federal coffers.
“For example, there’s a situation where there’s an estimate of 700 billion, and a trillion, 300 million billion dollars if we hire more IRS agents and we go after those folks who are avoiding taxes at the top end,” he said.
