NFL Thread: Thoughts on the game south of the 49th

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

...speaking of the Saints and their most recent game.

Jay Cutler (salary and signing bonus combined) is the highest paid player in the NFL this year.

The mindset of a current NFL'er:

"I'd rather have the experience of playing and, who knows, die 10, 15 years earlier than not be able to play in the NFL and live a long life."

- Chris Conte, Bears safety

http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/ ... ealth-risk

"As far as after football, who knows. My life will revolve around football to some point, but I'd rather have the experience of playing and, who knows, die 10, 15 years earlier than not be able to play in the NFL and live a long life. It's something I've wanted to do with my life and I wanted to accomplish. And I pretty much set my whole life up to accomplish that goal. So I don't really look toward my life after football because I'll figure things out when I get there and see how I am."

Wouldn't Harbaugh be a better fit at Miami?

Herb, there is always Mardi Gras.

After three ineffective quarters, Beast Quake II.

A nothing game for the Colts meant a nothing effort.

Bills?

I missed Sunday's foray.....

Was this a case of the Seahawks hitting their stride into the playoffs, or was the Cardinal's defense just that bad?

Not surprising with a sixth string QB, the Arizona offence was unable to do much against the Seattle D but did put together two drives into the red zone before imploding and and settling for field goals.

Seattle offence was not much better with two touch downs, one a long drive, another after the D gave them the ball on the Arizona side of centre, and three missed field goals after Wilson and Co were stopped.

That was through three quarters, 14-6 ...........then Beast Quake II stuck to start the fourth.

Seattle offensive numbers were padded by big plays not sustained offence.

Considering the inept offence, they damn well have to.
1st half possessions
- turn over on downs
- Wilson throws INT
- Lynch fumbles
- punt
- end of 1/2

Absolutely fucking amazing defence. Earl Thomas III has me finally not missing Kenny Easley. Last season while my Seahawk fan friends were having Legion of Boom circle jerks, I was sing the praises of Ken Norton Jr's crew.

Look at what that defence has done the last 6 games
- avg 6.5 pts/ game allowed
- avg 196 yds/game against
- allowed only 3 touchdowns in those six games

Damn I wish Johnny was one of Jerry's kids.

"I think a player who can't show up for meetings, can't make practice, can't make weight-lifting, disrespects himself," Haslam said. "But I think more importantly, and I think this is what these young guys miss, they disrespect the team, the coaches, the staff, the fans.

There's a lot of people in our organization whose livelihood depends on how well we do. We're not gonna tolerate people who are irresponsible, no matter what round they're drafted in."

"We're gonna give them a chance," Haslam said. "They're young kids. We're going to work with them -- hopefully they grow up.

"But if they can't grow up and they can't be responsible to the their teammates and the coaches and our great fans, then they won't be with the Cleveland Browns."

Amazing mark set by Murray considering those who have gone before him.

For $8M a year, why not?

Thankfully we'll have to endure less of Harbaugh's stupid face and those awful pleated khaki pants.

Best line I've read on Harbaugh coaching in college, after 4 years the players are gone and don't have to deal with him any more.

The 49ers have a veteran lineup that rivals Cleveland and Miami for unmanageable locker room shit shows.
