Read the recap…..apparently there was a fire Benning chant in the upper bowl tonight. Doyle were you at the game?

I hear it was one fan only. Reports indicate he was a "husky" individual who was cut off for spillies mid 2nd period

It’s just like November 2001. A talented team that can’t win. No doubt the hole is deep, but there’s a lot of season to play. And turnaround only requires flipping the script on special teams.

5 on 5 the team is pretty good. The PP has been poor and the PK is historic-proportions awful. They tried some different things last night on the pk with pressure and it didn’t matter. All new things aren’t going to click right away (and it might not have been a new thing, but players out of position).

The best thing they can do for the PK is stop taking so many damn penalties. The second best thing is to change up personnel (including a trade for pk player) and start using their better players. Third would be coaching and approach, but since it’s largely a personnel problem, this is mostly to improve player accountability and only a little to find a different way to communicate and only a little systems (there are only so many systems to a pk and the one the Canucks employ isn’t stupid; it’s execution. If you set up to eliminate the cross seam pass and then fail to eliminate the cross seam pass, you are goi to give up a lot of goals).

I only watched the replays, but did Miller break his stick on the first two Avs PP goals?

I see Miller trying his hardest. Coach has him in almost every role. He makes the odd bonehead play but to me, he is the team leader. No question the pride is there with him and he has the ability to shake off a bad shift.
Boeser is not getting to the optimum areas to do anything much. His effort level could be better. Obviously he's in a funk and thus making mistakes.
Pettersson should be in the minors working out whatever's wrong with him. I know it doesn't work that way but I don't think one good game is going to fix whatever's wrong there. It's compounding itself every game.
Bright spots are Garland, though he can only use some of the tactics he does so much. OEL has been reasonable and not messing up with long shifts.
I see good things from players sporadically but it never lasts or for long enough to win games. Hoglander might just be the exception to that.

At this point, I don't care if we keep the GM or replace him. I do know Travis Green isn't the one to right this ship. "He's lost the room".
It's 4th (or 3rd depending...), time to punt. :look:

He gave his stick to a dman on one of the PPs IIRC.

Better watch it. You might get called out for skipping a game of this mind numbingly boring product.

Well the better option there would've been for Myers to GTFO the ice.

I agree completely about the assholes as you are aware.

And I get your point suggesting that he, at least, as a comparable to others in the group, will play that role at times.

However, you'd know better than I about whether, or how well, Myers fits the bill or not.

To me utter connotates absolute or total though which is what we need but seemingly not what he is.

Fair?

Well I did say "sometimes" ... and hey Donny, most of those times are in the playoffs!

Myers is not the perfect asshole by any means, but beggars can't be choosers.

He's a solid #4 in my books, on a team short on RSD talent.

Overpaid by a mill or so (1.5 mill?) but that's the price one pays for UFA help.

Yes he's flawed, but until something better comes along...

BTW I've always felt, given Myers' contract, the intent from the beginning was tp trade him off in July 2023.

At that point he'll be owed a mere $1M in real bucks.

I just hope Woo/Juulsen is able to replace him, otherwise it's back to the... gulp... UFA market.
