Were on the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals team. All above players were provided to Gillis by the previous GM’s to Gillis.
And both GM’s get a ‘proportional credit’ value of zero.

So what
I find this proportion intriguing. AND! How this proportion was the core
It doesn’t have anything to do with the recently fired James Elmer Benning.
Exactly. Why are we talking about former GM’s in the Benning thread again?

I know

Just got me to thinking about historical proportioning between previous GM’s and handover GM’s. It’s an interesting debate, we need to dig more into this. Lift rocks and see what’s underneath if you will

Start a new thread. Have a poll about Gillis where you guys can bash his brains in and piss snd cry about shit that happened 13 years ago.

Aside from beating a dead horse (which never happens around here, right?), you could look at what Benning was left with when he came in as a starting point for his legacy. You could look at how Gillis' lack of drafting roster players left Benning with an older team, etc etc.

It’s all relative when mining the topic of what proportion of a teams success can be attributed to the work provided by the previous management and so forth. I was merely adding to the discussion a sampling from how ultra important the workings provided by the previous management to Gillis how that hard work benefitted Gillis greatly. We could be looking at a similar situation with the recent handover from the Benning regime to the Rutherford regime….or not. That remains to be seen. I brought up the Gillis handover because we have the proportionate data on that handover, but we don’t have the data for this recent handover…obviously as it just took place.

Benning left some good pieces but the prospect puddle is dried up. Gillis also left a shitty prospect pool but older players who obviously didn’t have as much value as a Hughes or Pettersson.

This garbage that Benning got left a horrible mess is bullshit.

Lots of pieces to deal and Ryan Kessler was every bit as good of a trade piece as JT Miller. He also left a pile of cap space. Elmer left about $50 of cap space and some long term shitty deals.

Come on man, seriously? A guy who'd only waive to two teams?

As a player and former Selke winner and 40 goal scorer he was absolutely as good as Miller. Elmer should have nutted up and played hardball with him. Bottom line is there wasn’t a garbage fire left like some people like to think. Elms inherited five top 4 d men. We haven’t even had four top 4 d men on the same roster since Bieksa got run out of town. Even today’s team has only three top 4 guys.

Elmer also left the next GM Demko, Hughes, Petey, Boeser, Garland, Pod, Hog...

Compare THOSE assets to Eye Bag's leavings....

So, check my math here…..

If we are assigning a ‘proportional credit’ measure from our last GM’s, then the PC of all previous GM’s of the Vancouver Canucks is…..

….. (doing math in my head)

…. (Counts previous Cup wins)

….. carry the one…

…. (Holding up a toe as I am out of fingers)

…. Uhhhh…..

Zero?

Yup. Zero!!

All former GM’s receive zero credit so far.

I think Myers is a #4 guy this year for sure. His first two years he struggled but I think he’s played pretty well most of the season.

Cap space is a big asset. Elmer left none but inherited a lot.

Horvat
Marky
Tanev
Edler
Bieksa
Canadian Olympian Hamhuis
Sedins
Garrison

And a gaggle of cap space. Elmer’s leave is better but he wasn’t left high and dry.
