I agree. The system needs a center for down the road but any UFA help should be directed at replacing Eddy and bumping Myers out of the top 4 right side
So i guess you guys are comfortable resigning Sutter then?
I'd take Edler at another year (if even necessary), and either ideally sign a UFA Center to replace Sutter, or if that's not possible, then sign a bonified
legit top winger and Have Miller play Center for a season or however long it takes to get another Center.
We do need a replacement for Sutter and what he tried to do when healthy. A hard working, grinding, penalty killing specialist. This would typically
be a third line player when looking at a roster. That doesn't mean it's cheap. Quite the contrary.

He’s a UFA this summer, I’m sure he will get a raise from his current $5.5 per year deal and wants term and protection. Sakic will have to give Makar somewhere between $8 snd $10 million, this summer, Sakic also has to think about McKinnon who is a UFA after just 2 seasons that will most likely make the 2nd highest paid player in the league. I wonder if this is why the Sedins were brought on board? Landeskog and OEL lures?

Avs might have to say their byes to Landeskog
Landy and Hampus. OEL is not necessary. Landy would set a cap for Bo and Miller.
I like Gabriel but his next contract has a chance to be Loui Eriksson 2.0
Nahhh no chance of that. He plays with heart unlike Loui who may be one of the laziest pricks to ever play in the league. He was a terrible signing right from his first game. Landy would give a team at least three good years.

It could turn out to be a millstone contract but not nearly as bad as the six year death march of watching Eriksson play.
It could turn out to be much more than the Eriksson millstone. Think around $8M as a starting point for Landeskog, and that's if you give him the full 7 years. We could end up hating him for the final 4 years of his tenure here.

Not that I think for even a second that this is happening. We absolutely do not have the cap space for him unless Eriksson, Roussel, and Holtby are gone with no cap return and Beagle is on LTIR. Oh, and Virtanen is gone too.

Then it's doable.

$7M for Petey and Hughes.
$9M x 6 for Landeskog.

Leaves $12M in cap space.

Still need a backup goaltender, 3 defensemen (at least one of them a top-4), and another top-9 forward.

So yeah, maybe can do. But this also requires Miller staying at center and hoping that Graovac can take over the 4th line pivot duties.

Potentially leaves us up shit creek halfway through the Landeskog deal when Petey and Hughes bridge deals need re-upping.

:hmmm:

Good point. No i am fucking not comfortable with that at all...but, Eddy is ready to be Ol' Yeller'd also so we need 4 pieces upgraded...fuck

Miller should stay with Pettersson IMO so a Eric Staal type of 3c could work for a year. On that right side defense we will have to see what plays out with seattle because I have a nagging hunch Myers will be exposed. If so there's some cake
If you need air...call it in

I don’t think Carolina can protect both of Foegele and Fast. Either guy would look damn good on Vancouver’s third line. I’d probably prefer McLovin as he’s a bit younger but Fast is a good solid player too. Guys like that you have no problem paying the freight for as they are legit players. Carolina has some good young guys coming. Curious if they would part with Joey Keane.

Doyle why do you obsess with the McGinn 3rd and 4th liner types? I thought that was what you wanted Jim to stop doing. How much do you think it would cost to get 3rd liner Foegele?
“Tyler Myers is my guy... I was taking to Scotty Bowman last night and he was bringing up his name, and saying he’s a big guy and big guy need big minutes to play, he is playing great for ya… and I agree with him… He’s been exceptional” - Bruce Boudreau

You’re right... what was I thinking? Highmore and Jimmy Feces should be good to fill out the third line.

I guess that’s me obsessing. Kinda like I brought up Jake Wise once and McGinn maybe a few times as a cheap third line plug. BTW they was Jamie McGinn, not Brock. You realize they there’s a search function where people can actually see who’s obsessing about what right? :?

I wanted Jim to stop overpaying clowns like Sutter and Beagle who are old soft and shitty and were paid a fortune. How exactly are they comparable to Fogele?

Wake the fuck up and blow the coke boogers out. It’s Saturday night Boss.

Fogele is 25....he’s young, cheap and fast. The Chef would rather pay old pukes like Sutter twice as much despite the fact that they suck shit.
