Yup finally win 1st OA in a year with no generational talent lol. Seems like the 2006 NHL draft:Mëds wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 3:34 pmAbsolutely, the best part is that most people won't even realize it! Here's why.....
This year we will win the lottery as compensation for our worst season of all time luck and schedule and everything. In fact, the league will probably engineer it that way to keep Canuck fans engaged and attempt to have them empty their pockets on merchandise related to the franchise's first ever #1 OA pick.
What ends up happening is that the Canucks finally get a 1 OA pick in a crappy year where scouting has been very hard and the player you draft has a lesser chance of actually being the player you wanted/needed. Then, thanks largely to cap management issues and recaptures, the Canucks will have 2 more years of lottery finishes and be held exempt from the 1 OA lottery for Bedard's draft year because they got a 1 OA this year.
Perfect. Storm.
Erik Johnson 1st OA, two-way centers in J. Staal, Toews, then Backstrom, Kessel, Brassard.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Worst year ever...
In 51 years the shitty seasons just sort of melt into each other, don’t you think?
After a parade of bad luck that can only be marvelled at the only question left to ask is what’s next?
Seattle’s first year roster will be better than the Canucks after 51 years of trying to get it right?
I feel like that is the next ignominy a losing record against Seattle for the next decade.

This team is actually set up well to graduate from up and coming into an actual contender within a couple years and the less the opposition respects the canucks the better in this situation.
Remember, our top offensive center has barely played this year. The group endured a nightmare with the plague running through the room just as the group had started to gel and win games.
The impact of The Pod is going to be a revelation. I have no doubts on this....the kid is a star in the making
No, next year they will be a vastly improved group who will be catching teams with their pants down

Oh don’t get me wrong, I still have hope for next year. It’s a prerequisite for Canuck fan membership. And actually I think they will have a huge bounce back year next year but I still think we will have the ignomy of a losing season to the Seattle StarbucksCousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 7:21 amNext year expectations will be extra low for those who dont see the forest for the trees.ukcanuck wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 6:25 am Worst year ever...

Re: Worst Season Ever?
I think Van will be swatting around just another shitty expansion team 6-8 games a year and fattening their stats on these kracken. The vegas experience wont be repeated, gms wont be so inclined to dramatically overpay to retain their middling prospects like 5 years ago

Re: Worst Season Ever?
The team had no realistic chance of competing for, let alone winning the Cup before this season began or next season for that matter and there are no fans in the buildings so this was a good year to have a year from Hell...
Meanwhile, there are a number of kids on the reserve list who have had very good years and the likes of Woo, Rathbone, Lockwood and Gadjovich have stood out in Utica this season...
For some reason, I haven't been as impressed with Kole Lind as most are but he hasn't looked out of place playing against a very good leaves team...
DiPietro has had a full season to work with Ian Clark which some think was not ideal and that he should have been playing every day, but given that the Comets were hit hard by Covid in hindsight it might have been a blessing...
I'm curious to see how 6' 4" Arturs Silvos, who has quietly been putting up some strong stats in a small sample size this season, develops....
And then there are the names we know nothing about who were drafted last year, but when you look back at Bennings previous draft successes you have to expect that one or two will emerge as legit prospects ...
https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/tea ... 08756.html
I like that size is coming back into vogue with many of these higher end prospects and picks and for me besides the obvious maybe the one thing that p*ssed me off the most this season was seeing the attack on Edler and the lack of response...
I'm old school but would have loved to see someone go after Marner and rag dog him around...
Take care...

Just to add to Corny's list, apparently Tryamkin is extending in the KHL.

Re: Worst Season Ever?
Ain’t y’all glad the Jerseys took the 2020 first (Mukhamedullin 20th overall) from Vancouver instead of the 2021 first?
Let me ask you would you trade Mukhamedullin, Mazanec and a 3rd round pick for JT Miller?

Re: Worst Season Ever?
Our blueline is a shambles of soft ineptitude. We have nobody graduating into the NHL ranks next year who can bring what this team is missing on the backend. Juolevi is shaping up to be a serviceable 5/6 guy, but nothing that isn't relatively easily replaced in either free agency or via an unremarkable trade.Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 7:21 amNext year expectations will be extra low for those who dont see the forest for the trees.ukcanuck wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 6:25 am Worst year ever...

If talent equates to red blood cell levels then our bottom-6 is anemic like none other. We have a couple guys who can play in those roles with hustle and heart, but they lack size and skill.....none of them are centermen.
So, I mean, if by graduate you mean that in 2 years we will be positioned well for Elmer to have to go overspend (again) on free agent help in the bottom-6.....then yes, I agree.
And we won more games without him than we did with him. Petey is a super talented kid, but I'm not sold on him as a consistent elite difference maker yet. So far it seems that teams that play him hard will be able to shut him down.Remember, our top offensive center has barely played this year. The group endured a nightmare with the plague running through the room just as the group had started to gel and win games.
Is this based on all the games you've watched him play in?The impact of The Pod is going to be a revelation. I have no doubts on this....the kid is a star in the making

Insert Tryamkin in place of The Pod and I feel like I've read that somewhere before.
Re: Worst Season Ever?
Yeah it was a bad season for your Canucks and for my Flames. I guess the 4 games they play against each other will determine who gets the better draft pick.
