McTavish being a center, might be a big factor in the appeal. Very hard to tell.Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 4:55 pm McKeen’s also has the Canucks taking McTavish.

They have Guenther going the pick after that.
Skipping Guenther to take McTavish doesn’t seem like a great idea to me.

Re: 2021 Draft Class
Seattle will likely take the goalie Jesper Wallstedt 2nd overall - build net out - shocking the nation, but Francis sees the high picked goalies in the final 4 (MAF 1st OA, Price 5th OA, Vasilevskiy 19th OA, Varlamov 23rd OA) and can't resist the top ranked goalie avail this draft, it'd be the smart move, one that I wouldn't like lol as we gotta play Seattle a lot, but we got Clark and his top protégé Demko + DiPietro + Silovs).Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 4:55 pm McKeen’s also has the Canucks taking McTavish.

Sabres - Power
Seattle - Wallstedt
Ducks - Beniers
NJD - McTavish (the surprise top 4 pick - getting a lot of praise lately - https://twitter.com/NHLdotcom/status/14 ... 7329626116)
CBJ - Hughes (help ease the pain of inevitably losing Jones)
Detroit - Eklund
SJS - Edvinsson (EK + Burns + Vlasic getting old and overpaid)
Kings - Guenther (add a sniper)
I can see all those guys taken in the top 8, IF any of them fall to #9....man that would be awesome.
Canucks - will then get one of these guys: Johnson, Clarke, Ceulemans, Svechkov, Fabian Lysell, Chad Lucius.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Its always the wingers that unexpectedly slide. Who is the highest ranked winger? Thatll be the sliderSKYO wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 7:19 pmSeattle will likely take the goalie Jesper Wallstedt 2nd overall - build net out - shocking the nation, but Francis sees the high picked goalies in the final 4 (MAF 1st OA, Price 5th OA, Vasilevskiy 19th OA, Varlamov 23rd OA) and can't resist the top ranked goalie avail this draft, it'd be the smart move, one that I wouldn't like lol as we gotta play Seattle a lot, but we got Clark and his top protégé Demko + DiPietro + Silovs).Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 4:55 pm McKeen’s also has the Canucks taking McTavish.

Re: 2021 Draft Class
Eklund or Guenther for me please. After Owen Power the next nine or ten are relatively equal it seems. A good year to be drafting ninth I think.

Guenther and Eklund, doubt either will make it to #9 tho. :/Cousin Strawberry wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 8:38 pm Its always the wingers that unexpectedly slide. Who is the highest ranked winger? Thatll be the slider

Didn't know Kent Johnson was a BC boy, assumed he was merican'...don't tell chefboiRD...he don't like BC hockey fellas.
Johnson is a slickster with the puck, an electric sniper "best-in-class when it comes to creativity and elusiveness with the puck on his stick, with his dangles, lacrosse goals, and spin-o-ramas, Johnson displays a strong effort of the puck and can do the heavy lifting during offensive-zone possessions."
Kent Johnson was only eight years old, but he remembers being in the crowd when his favourite team, the Vancouver Canucks, finally vanquished the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs.
"[Alex] Burrows slayed the dragon with that slap shot on
," Johnson said with a smile. "Never going to forget that one ... We probably would go to one playoff game a series back in those days, so really lucky I ended up being at that one."
The 18-year-old from Port Moody, B.C. lists that game as his favourite fan moment growing up.
"It was just so loud," Johnson recalled. "I had to clog my ears. It was just so loud. So, pretty special."

Re: 2021 Draft Class
Elite prospects has their final draft rankings out and number nine is Lysell, ten is Johnson, and eleven is Hughes. Even the front end is different then most as they have Beniers first and Power third.
https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft-ce ... spects.com
This helps confirm that the draft has pretty much no consensus and almost anyone could fall to the Canucks.

Fuuug, this looks ugly:

Potentially the worst draft year in the last decade and a half?
Hopefully Covid is messing up his numbers.
Trading the draft pick might be a good bet unless Benning is seeing things others aren’t like he did in the 2017 draft.

Re: 2021 Draft Class
He's a right shooting center who is supposedly more of a shooter than playmaker. Had pre season knee surgery and didn't play until February. Probably the biggest wild card in the draft, could go anywhere in the first round.
