I’ve always liked Brind’Amour myself but if I was a member of the coaching fraternity I’m not sure I’d be a fan. You have multiple coaches making 4-5 million and he settles for less than half that amount. COVID or not, that’s way below market value and it’s a kick in the cunt with a frozen gumboot. Maybe he’s an outlier because he fought to get the entire coaching staff and training staff re-upped and he absolutely loves living in Raleigh. But that owner is notorious for cheaping out on coaching and management. Looks like Fredo found a role model, he just doesn’t have the people to pull it off.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and others have reported that some NHL teams are trying to push back salaries for head coaches after the period of inflation that followed the Toronto Maple Leaves’ stunning presentation of a $50-million contract to Mike Babcock in 2015.

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

Small ads on helmets deal as an experiment is just about running out of time. Not only do they want to renew the financial benafits it delivered, they are now looking at the option to include ads on jersey's. Something they said they would not do.

No word on the eye-sore size yet. My thoughts are there is no reason to think an accumulative situation will develop. Nothing stays sacred.

FFS. Maybe a better term would be; Piss on it.

Taking a job with the PA means he's given up ever landing a job in NHL management again. :drink:

Okay, I googled... "ghta" + "God help them all"... and got:

No results found for "ghta" + "God help them all".

So now you're posting acronyms of your own invention with no explanation until prompted?

The salary cap isn't projected to significantly increase until players pay off their escrow balance, which is around $1 billion, according to Seravalli.
So if HRR is $4.8 billion, players take half in salaries, so $2.4b, right?

And apparently escrow is 18%, so $432M, is that right?

So 2 seasons and they could be back to a growing cap.

But if they keep it flat-ish, won't the cap need to explode to get back to the 50/50 revenue split? If that 18% escrow goes away when the deficit is paid off, $432M divided by 32 teams means the cap rises by $13 million?

I wouldn't be surprised if they ease into it, maybe 3-4 million raise in 22/23, I think that's allowed at the league's discretion?

Maybe I'm way off in my math, but growing revenues plus a flat cap while repaying escrow seems like a recipe for a massive cap raise.
Yeahno, this year the amount the players owe is going to INCREASE from the $1.1Billion they now owe, not decrease.

It's estimated the debt won't be paid off until 2026 at which point the cap would hopefully resume climbing at ~ the pre-covid rate.

Meanwhile, apparently, the “lag formula" negotiated in the MOU last year should see the cap creep up $1M per season.

SEASON.... PROJ. CAP......... PROJ. REVENUE.... ESCROW BAL

But the year after they have Hog coming out from his ELC and then Pod after that. Only going up $1M a year I can’t see how they keep all the stars on the team. Good problem to have.
