98 PIM in the second period alone of that game, but the mother of them all was a game in Skellefteå in 1980, when there was a bench clearing brawl during warm-up, like twenty minutes before the game began... The refs were still in the locker room.
The janitor had to turn the lights off to get the players to calm down.

Yeah, these two teams just don't like eachother.

Sad thing is that now that they're not in the same league, there aren't any regular games, but they always have at least one pre-season game between them and they are always sold out. Except this year, when the stands were empty because of corona.
Well, 50 spectators were allowed in, but it's just not the same.

Probably not one of your all-time favorites I guess....

I'd love to know the outcome. I dug into this years ago, but basically Moore was a handful of NHL games shy of quantifying for full insurance after his injury. By suing a fellow PA member, he gave up his insurance altogether.

I always thought that he lost the case once he got tossed out of the Colorado courts, where he would have gotten crazy damages.

I've seen speculation the settlement was $22 million - I find that hard to believe, but I suppose if that's true then he did make more money for getting punched out than he ever would have as a player.

What i like is he didnt get away with a cheap shot on one of the leagues top players.

The officials are culpable in that whole mess. More their fault than anyone’s really. If they would have let Brad May do his thing it all would have been avoided.

Granato was culpable too. What the hell was he doing playing him late in a lopsided game after Moore and other AVs had chirped the Canucks while running up the score. Granato is a scumbag.

I was at that game and almost got tossed and arrested, cop actually pulled me and my bud into the concourse, after yelling "get that trash off the ice" and "you live by sword, you die by the sword" while the crowd was in silence. Lousy game but I had a great time.

Recall near the end, Avs had their #1 PP unit out there and Hejduk scored to make it 8-2 (I believe).

Well, the fucking goof started jumping around like he'd just won the Stanley Cup.

Until Burnaby Joe skated directly to him and said something sternly.

Imagine someone being that oblivious to etiquette and the atmosphere of that game at that time.

BOOM, down went Hejduk's arms and he started looking around sheepishly.
