Why isn't Matt Barzal's contract (7mil / 3yrs / exp-RFA) a measuring stick for Pettersson? Seems generous enough to me.
How do you know it isn't? How you know it isn't the starting point of the negotiations for both sides?
Why does the player and agent have to take the same contract amount and terms that another player on another team has signed just because it's comparable? How do you know if the player feels that it's a generous offer just because you say so?
Answer the question.

What a character.
His arguments re: "Genius Jim" over the years was for everyone else to prove that this was true... even though everyone else was just dragging along the joke that started as a Dude troll job, just to irritate and poke at a few posters here with a stick.

Whatever. I look back at that period of dark but fun times in the Corner. Now to look forward and ahead to some young and exciting Canuck teams... built by the Genius

Sorry, I thought I always tried my best to answer questions put to me. If you remember any that you asked that I didn't answer, please restate them now and I'll try again.

Absolutely!
I bet Ronning's Ghost wanted Jack Wise too
He also wanted Vilardi over Pettersson and Bouchard over Hughes.

I don't think the pressure point is training camp. I think the real pressure point is the start of the season.
Who knows what it'll be at this point!
Yup; Heard him too. He's also of the mind you do whatever it takes to get your franchise player locked up long term. He was on a short while back, bout two weeks and was far more certain things would be done well before the season started.
Keep hearing players with 9 or 10 mil per, long term, being comparable to what a Petey deal should be. I don't share those sentiments.
I think Petty will be worth 9-10 in a few years but I favour a bridge deal for 2-3 years in the 7 range. I forget when he is UFA so a bridge that leaves at least one year RFA year.

In 4 years he will be a UFA, so a bridge has to be 3 years maximum.

Yeah, I think a 3 yr bridge for Petey will be what it'll take, as Myers, Pearson and Dickinson contracts expire when Petey will need to be re-upped.
Hughes hopefully will get some term, 6-8 years.
Spitballin' maybe their agent wants to do this like Kane/Toews, 5 years each lower AAV and then the big 8 year deal after.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
