Agreed. Despite the star power of the name, at this point in his career it's got to be a hard no.Uncle dans leg wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 4:36 pmI think his skating has tanked with all the injuries. Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I haven't done any sort of league-wide analysis but this seems like a massive overpayment to me. According to Puckpedia - he accounts for 8.7% of the cap for Philly. Kevin Hayes at damn near 9% of the cap? Can you actually win with that? What is this league coming to? Give me Sutter and his deal over that one every day of the week.Blob Mckenzie wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 10:24 amHayes is a second line player and a fair bit better than Sutter.Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2019 10:18 am Hayes signing is nuts for a third line centre....and people bitch about the Sutter contract???
But yeah that’s a bit rich for my blood for that player.

Cap problems, what cap problems:
“Ryan Callahan will be placed on long-term injury reserve with degenerative disc disease of the lumbar spine, Tampa Bay Lightning vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced Thursday.
Recommended to not play professional hockey again due to the condition, Callahan's blow comes after a 2018-19 season in which the Rochester, New York native skated in 52 games, with seven goals and 17 points for Jon Cooper's record-tying squad.
Callahan, acquired from the Rangers in the Mar. 2014 trade that sent Marty St. Louis to the Rangers, appeared in 757 career NHL games with the Bolts and New York Rangers, recording 186 goals and 386 points.”
First they trade Johnathan Tanner, now they announce Callahan is done.

Ya, well it's hard to argue that! Quite frankly, really hard.Harman Dayal

There are five defencemen in the entire NHL making $8M+ (Karlsson, Doughty, Subban, OEL, Burns). Adding Tyler Myers to that list should be a fireable offence for whichever GM bites.

Sure as hell hope it isn't us.
He is worth 5 or maybe 6 in any situation other than FA. Worth is what the market will pay. Stinks.
I don't think the Canucks should be hard on this guy. I think they should be soft.

Something better will come up.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I have no issue with Myers as a d-man on this club. He'd be an ideal top 4 to replace Tanev's minutes, while just being a steady, unspectacular giant d-man. He's not going to intimidate anyone, nor is he a push over. He has some puck skills, decent mobility and seems to be a good guy in the room. He has never lived up to his early career billing, and he won't after he gets paid next week.
It's just that he's goin to get paid, and paid handsomely. Regardless of the contract, he'd be in the media/fans doghouse at some point during his tenure here.
After losing Trouba last week, if Chevy doesn't come close to matching what TM is generating on the open market, that tells me his value to the Jets top four isn't good enough, hence it wouldn't be good enough for Vancouvers.
The trade route is far and away the best avenue for upgrading the top 4 this summer.

I'm hearing that too. He's a happy camper. Wids; you didn't get my humor. No one has yet.
None the less, my bet is Benning will try and push the city and the great bunch of team mates he'd have
but will not go over 7. And that would be 4 years.
I think he'd go 6.5 for a long term.
Elsewhere he will go; my bet.

William Karlsson extends with Vegas. 8 years, 5.9 million per.

So, LVK is now over the cap with the Karlsson signing and I don't think they can sign anyone else until they clear some cap space...
We do them a solid by adding another Miller?
