Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN
Without Hughes we're basically the same team this year as last. An elite skating defenseman can make or break a team usually...and its going to be another "break" scenario unfortunately. Yeah, its not like the Canucks are adding two former top 6 draft picks into their lineup this year or anything.....

Re: Canucks Contracts
I think by January everybody will know what Boeser is worth. I expect contract talk has already been looked at in a minimal way but by the New Year talk will heat up. He’s a Benning pick and I think Jim will want him locked up. If you are Boeser though you may only want a four year deal banking tha...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN
That’s interesting HW. If the disagreement is more between Linden and Benning than Linden and ownership, I speculate the team will get younger faster now, and most of the placeholders will be moved before this season is over. The rebuild continues. If the disagreement were between Linden and owners...

Don't buy tickets.... Seriously don't buy tickets to the Beagle show... #Pronger - Stop it really just stop it. Don't buy tickets. How many years are we going to wait... this organization has no credibility....they are throwing shit at the wall..then firing every couple of years... Where is the sta...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN
But would it surprise anyone to learn that they had expectations from Linden when they hired him and those expectations haven't been achieved? It wouldn't surprise me at all if the marching orders when Lindenning was hired were "we expect to make the playoffs". That alone doesn't make them meddleso...

Re: Trevor Linden is stepping down in VAN
Whatever your critique/opinion/feelings about Linden are, I see this as nothing but bad news that further confirms this ownership group as a meddling one...an extremely meddling one. I think of a meddling ownership as one who becomes involved in detail decisions. Don't put so and so in the press bo...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Dumba signs 5 years/$6 million cap hit per season. I thought that Minnesota was going to be up against it, but with the sizable cap increase and waiving Ennis, they are going to be able to get Zucker signed and be under the Cap with a full roster. In my view, it is a team in purgatory -- something a...

Re: Canucks Young Guns
I didn't really follow either Goldy or Lipstick earlier in their careers, but is there really that much of a difference from Dahlen? Asking from a lack of knowledge, not trying to disagree (and I'm too lazy right now to do any in depth research). The main difference if you are on a Canucks message ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns
Trymankin’s agent confirms he approached the Canucks at the recent combine to discuss Tryamkin’s return to Vancouver. He wanted to get a sense of the value the Canuck’s placed on him and where they saw him fitting in the depth chart. He describes it as a positive meeting and indicated Trymankin wil...

Re: Canucks Young Guns
I highly doubt this injury is as severe as Edler's... and the surgery has advanced in recent years. It's actually pretty common now and Juolevi will likely be ready for full training within a month. (I did my own research this morning... sorry, no links) I think that the severity of Edler's injury ...

Re: Canucks Young Guns
Agreed, HW, that slow is the way with Demko. Playing is the most important thing, and having a better team in front of you is a big deal. I always wonder about proper goalie development. I think about Jonathan Bernier -- an 11th overall pick -- who was brought up after the CHL season concluded (burn...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
The draft picks and prospects that Colorado received may turn out to be nothing players. The deal cannot be properly evaluated for the Avs for a few years. Hopefully they have figured out how to properly develop players. Which is the same things as saying you can never evaluate a trade until you se...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Yes, because breaking even on trades should still put you in a better overall position because you are balancing out depth, age, position, etc. But you'd like to do better.Ronning's Ghost wrote: Can the Canucks make progress if they only break even on trades ?
