Re: THE TORONTO MAPLE leaves

Brunnstrom was a never was that the media turned into some superstar after he put up a bunch of points in the Swedish equivalent of the AHL. Nonis' plan after the 06/07 season to fix our offence was to sign him and noone else. While I was opposed to it at the time I'm so glad we have Gillis at the h...

Re: Ballard Out With Concussion

A player who hasn't missed a game in 3 seasons gets a concussion 4 games into his career with us and Dan Hamhuis who's missed 7 over the last 5 has already missed a practice to nurse an injury. We really are cursed.

Re: BMO Redux

I think Mo's done enough to play his way onto the roster, and as others have pointed out with Hodgson not being ready for the NHL we'll be screwed if one of our top 3 centres goes down and Morrison isn't signed. The thought of Rypien being thrust into a checking role makes me shudder. Morrison's def...

Re: Hodgson

Hodgson's getting one last look as the 3rd line centre in tonight's game, but I get the feeling the writing's already on the wall for him. Time in the minors isn't a bad thing at all. Look at Getzlaf and Perry, they spent a year in the AHL together, developed chemistry and very quickly turned into t...

Re: BMO Redux

Well I'm all for bringing back B-Mo, I hope he's not brought back solely for nostalgia purposes. He had a good year last year, yet didn't end up with a contract. Obviously something scared teams away from him, be it injuries or whatnot. People are also playing a bit of revisionist history here. Morr...

Re: What will Chicago do?

Turco signing is confirmed....guess Niemi is going somehwere else.....maybe Florida? Florida are set in net for the forseeable future. They have Vokoun for this year, and when his contract runs out they have Markstrom ready to step in. I see Niemi going somewhere like the Islanders who still need t...

Re: Prized Possesions

I have a piece of fake money from the Canucks Dice and Ice a couple years ago signed by Linden as well as a Picture of Malik with the Rangers that is also signed (he's my favourite player ever for some stupid reason). I also won a team signed hockey stick from that stupid Canucks Movie DVD thing, bu...

Re: Bieksa on OTR

As to Rome, a 14 minute player? that's 23% of the game, I don't think he can handle that much of the game at the NHL level, it's like treading water for that time. He averaged 15:10 a game this year and didn't look out of place. Surpisingly I think Alberts started to show signs of turning the corne...

Re: Bieksa on OTR

I would trade Bieksa long before I traded Salo. When healthy (and obviously that's the operative word) he's our best defenceman. He doesn't play a flashy or gritty game, but he's positionally sound and thinks the game better than anyone we've had in the last decade. He's been a great mentor for Edle...

Re: Bieksa on OTR

Just watching douchebag 1a Kane do his "swimming move" celebration and then douchebag 1b Bufuglien taunt the crowd pissed me off all over again. Don't think there's ever been a team I've disliked that much...ever! Edmonton came close w/ their cockiness but they didn't stoop to such depths of douche...

Re: Naslund Jersey Retirement, like? dislike?

Fudged or (more likely) paid for by corporations and not attended by foreign business associates? Its called average attendance for a reason. I know some games were poorly attended but others were packed. I don't think Van really padded the numbers too much...I do know alot of teams do though; the ...

Re: Naslund Jersey Retirement, like? dislike?

97/98 = 16,986 98/99 = 15,803 99/00 = 14,642 00/01 = 17,017 Having been to a number of games between 97 and now, I can assure you that those numbers are fudged up. I went to a San Jose Vancouver game in 98 or 99 and the stadium was less than half full. I bought tickets in the back of the upper bowl...

Re: Naslund Jersey Retirement, like? dislike?

Take away the cup runs and Linden and Smyl are no more important than Orland Kurtenbach in Canucks history. You can't play "what ifs" with history. Take away their Stanley Cup and Mark Messier is no more important than Ron Greschner in Rangers history. Take away that game 7 victory against the Devi...

Re: Naslund Jersey Retirement, like? dislike?

Trouble and Arachnid you're both idiots. As for Naslund, he deserves some sort of recognition and this is a fairly stand version of it. Lesser players than him have had their numbers retired, and for a team desperate for tradition in their 40th season might as well start somewhere. Naslund ushered i...

Re: Uber Rumor!!

Wasn't there word that Lucic was considered for the Olympic Team.... That was such a joke, Lucic is a average player at best and the media played him into a potential Olympic spot. No way was he even concidered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm fairly confident he was invited to the Olympic orientation camp...
