Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Not really. With the new CBA, there is added benefit for players to re-up with their own teams. That extra year (when Getzlaf will be 35) Do you seriously think that that extra year gives teams as much leverage as they have when signing their RFA's. That is asinine. An extra year gives them as smal...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Everybody knows Parise isnt worth what Minni is paying him. Mmmmm another team getting subsidized by the teams operating under a sensible business model. I dont think Getzlaf is worth anywhere near that contract It isn't about what you "think" a player is worth it's what teams are willing to pay fo...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Getzlaf has never scored more than 25 goals in a season. He's coming off a 57 point season last year. Last year was a blip. He has scored 404 points in his last 396 games or 84 points per 82. He's also a point per game in the playoffs. To be honest I dont know why I need to bother with numbers, jus...

And why would the Ducks care about that?okcanuck wrote:
i'm sure the gm's of the successful franchises are going to love to cut a cheque to Anaheim to subsidize Getzlaf's contract.
Do you think every team receiving some shared revenue should just let their star players walk?

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
So i take it you think Getzlaf's contract is good then? Yes. 27 year old center who is an absolute horse and generally scores over a point a game. 8.25 will barely get you a second line forward and a top4 defenseman in free agency, you have to be off your rocker if you think that is a better use of...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Bettman had a lock-out,why? Anaheim is on the verge of needing subsidies from the have teams and their idiot GM signs this contract for Getzlaf? Did his GM even have a choice ? Take Getzlaf off that team and they are basically in re-build mode. This is what 27 year old franchise players cost, if yo...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
It's early but I have to say I'm surprised at the low scoring numbers we are seeing from the Oilers kids. I was expecting them to tear it up given they all played pro hockey during the lock out, but their trends are all way off from last year. And what the hell happened to MPS. He looked incredible ...

Re: My Truck...
I'd look for an '04 or earlier Tacoma double cab if I were you. They are better built than the '05+ current model. I have been drooling over them for months, but dont have the $20K plus trade in to spend. 2004 or earlier. http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Toyota/Tacoma/NEW%20WESTMINSTER/British%20Columbia...

Re: Topper's Grilling Advice!
Topper, need some advice. Wife and I are coming off a stupid restrictive diet this week where we've been limited to chicken or shrimp or "white" fish. Adding other meats back in soon but they have to be lean. What are some good choices and where can I get some ideas (short of picking your brain) on...

Re: My Truck...
The price bumped? $40K is about what I saw, I'd have to go in and look at the dealership myself, but I've building and pricing online and the Eco-Boost option was only a $1250 increase. Not too bad all things considered. But I'm looking at a daily driver half-ton, not a work truck. The sales person...

Re: My Truck...
Do research on the ecoboost! I don't know much about em but I've read Ford has had nothing but trouble with them. I checked them out today and they bump the price too much. I cant justify spending 40k on a work vehicle that I will be warping and putting a roof rack on. And I don't know if it's been...

Re: My Truck...
Did you end up grabbing a Truck Pot? Once we moved into September almost every company changed their deals for the better. I guess the 2013's are all coming in and there is lots of 2012's unsold. Very much leaning towards the GMC, but I want the better engine. Probably start shopping again shortly....

Re: My Truck...
Look at the same model from 5 years ago and then compare used selling price now vs new price then- what;s the difference and then divide that by months- there is your cost of ownership. Figure out what makes sense for you. If you take a look at the typical lease agreement, generally after 4-years y...

Re: My Truck...
GM is offering 0% financing for 72 months. You simply can't beat that. If you have cash.... invest it and finance the truck anyway. I have this weird aversion to financing vehicles, but yeah it is kind of dumb to pay cash when it's 0%. Sometimes you can negotiate a better deal if you pay cash but I...
