Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"
I don't think weinerdog is talking about "the way it should be" though, I think he is talking about the way it is and he is spot on IMO. Unless the Canucks organization wants to go to war with the media in this town or unless the fans organize and boycott, they are not going to change; they sell eno...

Re: Vancouver's Hockey "Media"
You can say the samething about all media, we wanted 24/7 news and sports and now we have it. They need to fill air time with something so if there is nothing to talk about then make something up or talk about it so people start thinking there is an issue. God forbid they go out and find something ...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
I would imagine it could work out the same as it did with Dany Heatley in Ottawa (demanded a trade and then veto'd the first deal). That being said I would guess that once a player waives their NTC they lose it, as I'd expect Heatley would probably prefer to be playing in San Jose rather than Minnes...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
Back to the rebuild talk, hasn't Feaster said publicly on a few occasions that he won't be presiding over any rebuild - or at least any Oilers style tank job? I don't know if that's bluster (and I'm not familiar enough with Feaster to even know whether that's his style) but if it's not then we can e...

Re: Players You Hate
No supplementary discipline for Looch, Brendan Shanahan left no stone unturned (ie. he asked Lucic if he meant to concuss the opponent's goaltender and he said no) in his investigation.dbr wrote:but somehow I suspect he'll escape punishment on that too (which makes me hate the guy even more).

Re: Players You Hate
I wouldn't be sorry at all to see "Looch" sustain a nasty head injury or have his lunch fed to him by some goon. Guy is a complete punk. I guess we will probably have to settle for a lengthy suspension after an intentional head shot to a perennial All Star who was not even eligible for a legal check...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
Did the Malhotra or Samuelsson signings upset Burrows?
And personally I'd give up a boatload of assets to have Shea Weber at $7m rather than Bouwmeester (who would also require assets) for $400 000 less.
Anyway, that's for another thread I guess.

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
Speaking of JBo, MG was trying to get him few seasons ago. Do you think MG is still interested? JBo's game might fit the Canucks' style better than the Flames. I know his contract is pretty much untouchable but since AV is not fully utilizing Ballard and Raymond is still on LTIR... Don't get me wro...

Re: Home Construction Discussion
Hmm.. rough figures would put them at about 100 GJ of energy for two years, less whatever escaped through the chimney.
Thanks Topper.

Re: Home Construction Discussion
Two per year but the last residents would have the fire going in the middle of a day like today for example, where the sun has warmed the place up pretty nicely.

Re: Home Construction Discussion
I wish that were an option Topper. The place is often also heated by a fireplace with an insert and fan, which is nice but frankly not something I want to have to use going forward - of course that means that past expenditures to fill the oil tank would not tell the whole story (and of course the pa...

Re: Home Construction Discussion
Disclaimer: I probably do not belong in this thread. That being said, I saw CFP dropping knowledge about heating a ways back and bragging about his pumps a couple posts up. We've just moved into a house with a heating oil furnace, we don't own but it's a family-owned house so we'll likely be here fo...

Re: Weber: Is it Doable This Season?
For any deal to happen this season we'd either need a long term injury to a core player or to send Keith Ballard the other way; even assuming Mason Raymond stays out of the lineup until the end of the year we have to clear $5m in cap space for Weber (and more if we are trading away a player like Sch...

No. Although IMO it's been going downhill for a season or two now.
We'll see what the next season brings, I guess.

Re: TV Shows: What are you watching?
So many people say that yet... it was only nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards and it never won. It almost adds to the legend of the show. It was nominated for a bunch of bullshit awards and it won a few but to regarded as the best drama ever, and to be completely snubbed by the Primetime Emmy ...
