I'll carry the old Lumberland jingle in my head until death. "Fixin' up my house, now, whoops I need a hand - Lumberland!"I still remember some of those old commercials on CKNW for Meadow Bell and VIVO (or VILO?). I have the old themes in my head still.

Re: Raymond out 3-4 months
That was my point. Maybe it didn't come through; I was saying that the exact same criteria applied to both hits. The penalty for both should have been interference (probably a major in both cases).ClamRussel wrote:...but neither should the Rome suspension have happened then jugger. You cant have it both ways.

Re: Raymond out 3-4 months
I've watched the replay of this hit a bunch of times, and all I can conclude is that it was a hit that came late, almost certainly with no intent to injure, but, as it turned out, caused a significant injury nonetheless. Definitely unfortunate, probably should have been 2, maybe 5 and a game for int...

Re: Daniel Guarantees Game 7
All a reporter needs to do to create a "guarantee" story is to ask a player what will happen in the big game. Doesn't matter whether it's Daniel Sedin, Tim Thomas, or whoever. What do we expect them to say? "Well, we're going to come out and give it our best shot, but hey, maybe we play our best and...

Re: R4G6 - Canucks in Boston - 5pm - Monday
To have one's name engraved on the Stanley Cup certain requirements must be met. A player must have at least 41 games played with the club or one game played in the Stanley Cup Finals. However, in 1994 a stipulation was added to allow a team to petition the Commissioner for permission to have playe...

Old boxscores
Found this great site which is a work-in-progress compendium of all NHL boxscores. Canucks coverage is not complete but seems pretty decent ---> http://hsp.flyershistory.com/ . It's pretty fun to go back through games that I attended years ago and see the boxscores to see what I remember (and more t...

Re: R4G6 - Canucks in Boston - 5pm - Monday
No idea what to expect tonight. It's been that kind of a series. All I know is it's 8 hours to gametime and I haven't been able to focus on anything at work today, and don't think I'll be able to. Also, I don't care. Never mind that I have no way of influencing the outcome in any way. Never mind tha...

Re: Who's you Conn Smythe pick? w/poll
I think now (after 5 games) the Smythe is Tim Thomas' to lose, regardless of the outcome of the series. Although, if Luongo can play lights out in Boston on Monday, he might be able to take it despite Games 3 and 4. I don't think any of the skaters (for either team) that were in play at the beginnin...

You're right about that. You call Canada "America Jr." because Homer Simpson did in a 2002 episode. An episode that was pitched by two Canadians.BruinsHockeyRules wrote: Do all canadiens copy America - we don't call you America jr for nothing ya know
OK, this has been fun. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

The dirtiest hit ever. Rome is a punk
The dirtiest hit ever, if you define "ever" as "since I started watching hockey", which, incidentally, was around Game 6 of the Tampa series.

Re: Rome Suspension
I think you're talking about three different things here: 1) Individual games being fixed; 2) Result of a series being fixed; and 3) The league making decisions that unfairly disadvantage one team/player/coach/etc., by virtue of the fact that they have the power to do so. Number 3 happens all the ti...

Re: Rome Suspension
I've heard a lot of complaining in the media about how it's unfair to penalize based on the injury, as opposed to the play itself. I think that's nonsense - the injury has to be a factor in punishment, at least to some degree. If I drink and drive down the wrong side of the road, that's one thing. I...

If Horton had skated off under his own power, dazed, he'd have received two for diving. Just ask Steve Downie.Cornuck wrote:If he didn't go off in a stretcher in front of a national TV audience, it wouldn't be 4 games.
