Re: 2026 NHL Draft

Good take Lancer. More and more we are seeing small, skilled, players relegated into obscurity in the post season as the whistles get pocketed. There are exceptions, but those exceptions are found in guys who are opportunists that often finish plays where others have done a lot of the leg work. I ...

Re: Random Hockey Shit

Oh yeah. I would much rather Douglas dropping the mitts than Buium, Boeser or even Sasson for all kinds of reasons. The kids are going to need a Douglas or two the next couple of years. Hopefully D-Petey can develop some deterrence skills because he has the build and temperament for it. You don't ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft

Talking about toughness in the playoffs in the Random Hockey Shit thread, it occurred to me as something I would hope the team looks at moving forward: looking for size and physicality in the mid rounds over high-ceiling/low-floor skill bets. Unless the scouts know something about a small, skilled ...

Re: 2025-26 OOTS: Playoffs Edition

I had to check the stats to see if Elias Lindholm was dressing for them. He's suffered a pretty significant decline since his time in Van already (if anyone recalls he was maybe our best forward in the playoffs). That must be disturbing for the Bruins Considering everyone of consequence who left ...

Re: Random Hockey Shit

Deterrence isn't what it was in the day. Guys like Douglas are a bit of an anachronism, and more a sign of roster weakness than strength IMO. If your players aren't tough enough to stick up for each other, they need that designated fighter. Small wonder contending teams usually have a fair number of ...

Re: 2025-26 OOTS: Playoffs Edition

Carolina is a machine. Stankhoven was a good pickup. Carolina runs a tight ship that is always competitive up to the second round.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Enough of the smurfs. Who cares if he gets whatever it was he lost, he's still a weenie little dude who won't move any needles even if he gets back to full power. I've seen enough weenie little dudes darting about thank you Hoglander doesn’t get knocked around (strong guy, lower body solid), is g ...

Re: 2026 NHL Draft

I think we should sacrifice Chytil to the hockey gods. May the odds forever be in your favour. Would a Chytil bobblehead be in bad taste? Asking for a friend. Nope. Sometimes the best thing a flower can do is die. Crack that dude’s skull like the eggshell it is and make a quiche worthy of the H ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Word out of an Austrian news source was that Rossi played the last stretch of games with a metatarsal fracture in the same foot he got the same injury earlier - all that while putting up 20 pts in the last 20 games. I tip my hat to the kid’s perseverance - especially at the end of a disaster of a s ...

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Hope Hoglander gets a chance to hit the offseason on a high note.

I don't know what happened to the kid, but he looked a little broken out there. Lot of energy and effort that led to... nothing.

Re: Canucks News N Notes 25-26

Ona a happier note, 9 years after we traded Burrows for Dahlin, and then Dahlin for Karlsson, we got a good year of hockey out of Karlsson. What surprises me is we made 2 good trades for declining assets, and then stuck with Karlsson for 6 years as he grew into an NHL player. I know this is ...

Re: 2025-26 OOTS: Playoffs Edition

Yeah, I didn't mean to potentially derail the thread. Only wanted to point out that, in Podkolzin's case, he was a casualty of Tocchet's prioritizing vets and wins over developing young players like him and Hoglander. I will also throw management under the bus for this reason: they, too, prioritized ...
