^ Burrows for three goal Jones? I don’t think so! Not sure I’d give up Booth!

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Imo it was a bold overstatement with the predicted time out. I'm not so sure about that...I am still recovering from a minor achilles tear that happened 9 weeks ago, but I will say that while I still can't run for longer than a couple of minutes on it, I have been able to skate fine and without pai...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
or the damage was not as bad as they said? Not a doctor of course so who knows the real extent of the injury? They said the tendon was 70% severed and he required surgery to repair. He had a healthy tendon before the injury, and was no doubt in great shape when the injury occurred, so it wasn't lik...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Maybe it was a clean cut, and a great surgeon?? But, yeah. that is a very quick turn around. Well, he no doubt had the best surgeon, doctors, physiotherapists and personal trainers money can buy, but 10 weeks is insane for an injury they say takes at least 6 months to recover from. Salo was gone fo...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
I can't be the only person who is totally baffled that Erik Karlsson will be back playing tonight...wasn't his achilles tendon nearly totally severed less than 10 weeks ago? Am I totally missing something? Those types of injuries usually take like 6 months to recover from.

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
Mason Raymond better have a hell of a good agent if he is going to convince Gillis that he is worth substantially more than Chris Higgins. IMO, Higgins and Raymond should be financially comparable. Raymond is better offensively, but Higgins is a better two-way player and plays with (way) more grit t...

Re: From Bountiful to Ponoka
Does Raymond care about winning that little that he'd go to Calgary?Hockey Widow wrote:Well, there is some talk that Mason Raymond would welcome an opportunity to play in Calgary, but not on a one year. MAybe they give him 5 years at 5 million per?
No way is he worth $5M. That would be a horrible deal for any team.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
It's not so much that TSN is pro Leaves, it's that everytime you turn on that channel is "leaves, leaves, leaves!". How does this or that impact the leaves? What is Dave Nonis doing today? Which Leaf is injured and which players are healthy scratches today? When they show NHL highlights, for most ga...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Today on TSN they proclaimed the leaves a lock to make the playoffs. They did the math and feel confident in predicting that the Leaf drought is over. With all the gaffs T.O. media has had this year I'd love to see this one bite them. But they would have to go on a big losing streak to get bumped o...

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Not much help from the out of town scoreboard lately. Minnesota tied up their game against Phonix with 55 seconds left and won in overtime. Anaheim did lose though. A few Anaheim losses here could make catching them for the 2 spot more likely.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
No thanks to that asking price for Clowe.
Would I want Gillis to go after FA Clowe? Absolutely. But a first round pick and a prospect for a guy who has been showing signs of slowing down and was never a dominant force to begin with AND could be purely a rental player anyway? No way.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
Yes, according to Wikipedia his shootout success rate is north of 50%.
Jokinen being signed for $3M next year would make picking him up harder to swallow, but he would be a "free" asset in terms of it costing nothing other than cash to bring him in.

Re: Around the league (signings, RFAs injuries)
And they have placed Juicy Jokinen on waivers. A decent third line centre but with term. Juicy has one more year at $3M after this one. A bit of a gamble, but he's a versatile player who can play centre and wing. He has put up 65 and 52 points in the past and 42 points last year. He has won 58% of ...
