FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Apparently not enough. They won, while their fans spent most of the game chanting ”we want beer!”
...really eh?

What would that translate to in Spanish?

They're criticizing the Qatari government's no-booze decision!

I believe the punishment for that is 50 lashes with the cat of nine tails.

I'm surprised those filthy heathens weren't chanting:

"We want beer, pork, and sex outside of marriage!"

Fucking Ecuadorians...

Some teams have planned to use rainbow captain’s armbands.
We’ll see how that will pan out! 8-)

Harry Kane appeared fairly adamant about donning a band but has now backed off due to the threat of a pre-game booking

Would be the first footy player to get booked with a yellow card and a red card... then an orange card, then a green card, then an indigo card, then a violet card...

. Yes, but can you score more than once per 90 or are you flaccid the rest of the way?

;)

Would probably be more useful if they chanted it in Arabic. :drink:

Apparently this was the most expensive World Cup in history. Estimated at $220B spent over the last decade in preparation for the event. More than all of the previous World Cups combined.

And Corn couldn't even find a shipping container to sleep in.

Depends on the other team.

Sometimes, you just need to score once, wait for the final whistle and go home. Other times, you want to run up the score. Fill up the ol' onion bag, so to speak.

When the other team is REALLY good, you might want to stall and fake a leg cramp just to add some extra time.

Flaccid? How dare you! I'll have you know that I might flop 3 or 4 times during a match, but I pop right back up again to probe the defence and attack the box hard! I have a huge VO2Max.

Canada loses its first match - 1-0 to the stinkin' Belgians. We had a penalty kick, but not a great effort on that - and they only needed one goal.

Really unlucky to not get a point. Far better play than anything they showed in Mexico at their last appearance, but showing they can play isn’t going to get them out of the group. They need to finish on their chances.
