We're All Doomed!™ (the Conquest, War, Famine, and Death Thread)

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Hit Save On at 7 as usual on a Saturday morning.

Usually 1 or maybe 2 customers there besides me at that hour.

Not today....perhaps 25 people shopping.

Annnnndddd....mega empty shelves and unavailable items (grapes, a variety of other fruits, brussel sprouts, a variety of other vegetables, arugula, mustard for instance...and many other bare areas).

The panic (once again) ensues......

January 15....Doomsday has arrived!

Other than the initial hording that started this whole thing, I haven't seen any problems with supply around here. Of course, our selection is much more limited - but I can't think of anything I haven't been able to buy since the 'rona entered society. I'll see some empty spots here and there, but I can't think of one thing I wasn't able to buy.

I'm guessing that cities might have bigger problems with a higher percentage of idiots hording?

Requirements for truckers entering Canada in effect as of January 15, 2022 - Canada.ca

Supply chains are already an issue.

Now they will be worse.

I think SOF has their warehouse in Alberta so most of their stock gets shipped from there. They are not a big local store and go for the cheapest of everything. Even in season they don’t sell local stuff but shit from California and Mexico. Love how instead of garlic from China it is from Asia now.

I get my veggies from a small produce store and they have everything. Meat from the butcher. SOF is for most other things. Did try to get some cereal and they were out, how are they freaking out of my damn cereal.

Yea but the owners group has other companies as well. They used to have a warehouse in the Valley but moved it out. This was their excuse during the flooding events. This is an assumption as I have not googled where their warehouse is.

That was the announcement the other day, dispatchers sent trucks south.

Next day the Feds claimed it was a draft sent out in error. Customs and Immigration has said they will be discretionary on the returning truckers as far as the app and mandatory testing goes, but there is no word on the 2 week quarantine they face.

And 900 members of the Canadian Armed Forces are facing discharge because the refuse to be vaxed.
