yup, Greeny will be gone

I feel like it's more about players wanting different approach/system as Green's shit system is just not working. But Green's too stubborn to change it up .
Not to mention the addition of Jason King as the special team coach, out of no where.

Someone should interview Newell Brown, who had his PP specialist reputation ruined in Vancouver.

Maybe it was all about Green trying to be an authoritarian

Vin Tanner wrote: Wed Nov 24, 2021 7:49 pm OEL has been fine, a bit overpaid but certainly a solid #3 guy who can anchor a second pairing. Garland has been very good. I like the player. Dickinson is probably better suited to the wing or 4C, but he’s been decent. Poolman has been ok, not a world beater but a decent bottom pairing guy even if he’s overpaid. Halak hasn’t hurt them, nor Schenn.

Other than Miller and to a lesser degree Hughes and Demko, the rest of the “core” has been awful. They don’t have enough star power or depth to withstand that. So they need 80 % of the guys pulling in that direction. They have way too many passengers right now.

None of this is on the additions. Three of the top 4 forwards not playing like ass could solve a lot of problems. Maybe we’ve overrated these kids. I don’t have a great feeling when the best two guys weigh 165 pounds.
A fair assessment.

I just can't get my head around how the fuck BB and EP have turned into plumbers overnight like this though. It really makes no sense other than the possibility that they want out or Green gone.

What else could it be?

Neither can handle the puck to save their lives. Neither are anticipating or moving into open ice to get shots off, they just stand there and cough up pucks that they have easily been able to contain and distribute around 4th line pressure.

It's fuckin weird man
I'll mostly agree with Vin here (especially about the core and the depth), except I don't think Poolman is overpaid. After watching the Dcorp shitshow here for years, he seems to be solid and unspectacularly reliable. He can legitimately fill in in the top 4 for long spells.

In fact, I think when all are healthy, Hughes/OEL/Myers/Poolman/Hamonic have been the least of our worries. They've been slightly above league average 5v5 IMO. So, maybe 4 years is a bit long but at $2.5M it certainly isn't an overpay. He's miles better than Stecher for a slightly higher price tag.

The special teams have improved slightly but is still god-awful. Add that to the top offensive core (other than Miller) being completely limp-dick and this went from a promising middle-of-the-pack team to a lottery team by mid-Novemeber.

I just can’t see a way out of this with Green as the coach. I gave him as much benefit of the doubt as possible, but even if the team was to magically turn it around, that shadow of doubt will be there as long as Greener is coach. A veteran coach is needed, no trades, just time before the TDD to figure out what kind of team the new coach wants, then perhaps a strategic trade or 2. No fire sale.

That clip of Miller is most telling. Love to play poker against that guy.

Green has lost the room, or enough of the room to explain the current record. Not a fan of mutinies, but that’s where it seems the team is at.

King as special teams coach is still a head-scratcher. Was there no one else better on the market last summer?

The roster is what it is, and should be producing better results based on what it is on paper. Unless it’s a tear-down and start-over, I don’t see many trade scenarios that would improve the team in the near and far term.

Coach has got to go.

The Canucks could use a hard nosed coach to provide more discipline. Somebody good with systems & teaching.

They need him long enough to get our sullen young stars going, but not so long that they start to pout again. Long enough to pump their values up before the trade deadline, so their selfish asses can be shipped out. After that coaching might be re-evaluated.

Considering the difference in trade value for sullen stars vs performing stars, there should be plenty of funds available for this coach - assuming Canucks management plays the long game. Therein lies the rub. :(
Less Canucks embarrassment please.

This is how it feels to me as well.

Reporter: "Is everyone buying in right now?"

JT Miller: "pause... I don't know."

11 second clip.

First of all, y'gotta love his passion.

But watch his face there... he knows.
Hilarious the Canucks twitter cut this part of the video just before Miller said that.

Indeed.

As an aside it appears there is no need to organize a CC Hockey Pool next year.

Seems you are a lock....

I'm leaning in the direction of thinking that Aqualini is trying to get his ducks in a row regarding mgmt. first.

Not sure installing any of the assistant coaches under contract as Interim would help anything, nor Cull who would need to replaced in Abby... and I don't think ownership is keen to give current mgmt. the OK to hire another coach, only to fire them all - and have to buy out their coach so the new GM can install his person.
