Common theme historically no?

Lemaire - Lafleur Shutt

Oates - Neely Hull

Et cetera.....

Marner is really that much of a free hanging pinata for criticism?

Marner put up similar numbers playing with Tavares. The reality is he will be there as one of the 14 or 15 forwards. If he doesn’t play that well, someone else will be subbed in for him. They will have so much talent there to pick from.

The Swedes should have an awesome team with Petey unleashing his alien montage of abilities.
So you’re saying maybe you won’t participate much in this thread. Good to know! Beijing is different from Vancouver for sure-very astute. Why would YOU be giving fist pumps to Canadian Olympic hockey players? Why in the hell would Auston Mathews opt out of the Olympics? But you can see it. Ok :sly:

The Swedes should have a good team.

Sorry Mick....are you able to expand on this comment.
The coverage was awesome.. And just the fact it was in town. I hope China will be a good host and wipe all debts clean for all participating counties.

The Marner hate is real....
He signs his massive 10.9/year contract then hasnt scored a playoff goal since.

Hes a known playoff choker when it matters (but i will concede is a pretty talented guy when the opposition isnt really trying)

I seriously relish pain felt by laughs fans...its not hate
Barzal and Marner in my opinion are two of the same although I prefer Barzal as he plays with more of an edge while Marner disappears to the perimeter in the post season. I think Barzal is a million underpaid and Marner is $3-$4 million overpaid. $7 to $8 million is what those two should be getting
Their deals are structured differently regarding term. Regardless, Hockey Canada doesn’t have a salary cap to navigate during the tournament. Just thought I’d point that out.

Yeah I watched Crosby score from my lanai at Mauna Lani on the Big Island.

I left town for the month of February to get away from it all so as not to deal with the traffic and the masses.

In retrospect one of my poorer decisions in life.....

You gave the impression you aren’t interested in the tournament and will basically just cheer for the Canuck players.

See how it goes. It's not impossible to get caught up in it once it gets down to meaningful games. Gotta wait till the time comes.

Why Marner though? Hes a choker
Why Marner on first PP unit?

Huberdeau is fine with me. Two best passing wingers in the game.

Do you think Marner shouldn’t be on the team? Put your Leaf hater glasses away. He’s supremely skilled and can P.K. He’s definitely on the squad.

Check out JT Miller’s playoff stats before the bubble. Marner is still a kid and his numbers blow JT’s away in the playoffs.
Why are you suddenly comparing Marner to Miller? :?

Marner better be the better player, he pulls in $10.9M.

(Miller makes $5.25M... less than half)

Cuz is right, folks far and wide have labeled Marner a "playoff choker".

(goal scoring pace decreases by 50%, point pace by 25%, giveaways and dumb penalties increase substantially).

None moreso than Leaves fans themselves:

https://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/ ... d.2839245/

90% of Leafers want him traded yesterday and most say he's overpaid by $2M - $3M per.

But again, why on Earth are you comparing him to some random guy with half the cap-hit? :eh:

Vin Tanner wrote: Sun Sep 05, 2021 11:22 am Guys writing off Marner but we need to wait for Olaf…
Comparing him to $750K OJ now. :wow:

Lol, you're really out there pal, get your pickled ass into detox immediately...
Should I walk it back for you? Or will it turn into a snip a piece of a post fest?

One thing however, its an Olympic tournament and as far as I know there’s no salary cap limits for the teams.

The comparison to Miller was that some youngish guys struggle early in their careers in post season play. But I’m sure you knew that and just want to pollute the board with another flame war.
THAT'S your excuse for comparing Marner to Miller and OJ?

OMG, Micky's not the gomer... YOU ARE!!

(no offense)

And I notice it took a few hours for you to come up with that one lol...

Uhhh I wasn’t on the site for a few hours. It was a comparison of youngish players who struggled earlier in their careers in playoffs.

The OJ reference was brought up because Lizzy was shitting all over a young kid that has 25 points in 32 career playoff games. It’s not outstanding but it’s decent production. He’s a year older than Olaf with 10 x the success.

My last comment on the issue. You are free to destroy another thread though.

Uhhh Micky and I both asked you why you suddenly dragged Miller into the Marner conversation.

You responded to Micky here: http://www.canuckscorner.com/forums/vie ... 26#p445026

You responded to me 4 hours later: http://www.canuckscorner.com/forums/vie ... 45#p445045

Why did you need 4 hours to provide a simple explanation?

I submit to the court that you needed time to fabricate your story.

And that you are now further fabricating in an attempted coverup.

Why then did you subsequently also drag Boeser and Horvat into the conversation? :sly:
