Re: Canucks Contracts
Loui's mentoring of the young players on this team has gone largely unnoticed but you can clearly see his influence in Petey's play this year...Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 9:56 pmHe’s hoping to get a Louie Eriksson type dealThe Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 8:40 pm Fuck i read a funny one somewhere...

The 'Chain of Command' is the chain I am going to beat you with until you understand I am in charge.
Re: Canucks Contracts
Elliotte Friedman now believes Petey and Hughes will go shorter term, so less AAV, whereas before he thought full term.
There was a time I thought Pettersson & Hughes would do term. I don’t know if I believe that anymore, I don’t think that makes sense.
So your number comes down a little bit.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Re: Canucks Contracts
Brock got 3 years at 5,875,000.
If Petey and Hughes go short term I’d expect something around that.
Hughes can’t get offer sheets so he can’t expect too much unless he goes long term, and Petey’s poor season start hurts what he can command. If it is only three years, I’d expect a six million max.
If they go long term their contracts should be less than Aho’s offer sheet which was 5 x 8,460,250.
Petey and Hughes maybe 6 years x 8m or 8 years x 8.5, give or take half a million.
Demko probably gets term something a little under Binnington (6x6) unless he wins a cup. Demko maybe 6 years at 5.5m, or 8 years x 6.2.
All in I predict:
Petey 3 x 6m
Hughes 3 x 6m
Demko 8 x 6.2m
So all in 18.2m cap hit next season on these three.

Re: Canucks Contracts
^^Do we have the cap room to do something like that though? With $15 million in dead cap on the books for one more year in Eriksson, Roussel, Luongo and Beagle I would be pleasantly surprise, delightedly really, if Benning could pull that off.

Re: Canucks Contracts
Yah, Edler, Sutter, Pearson, Baertschi, Spooner all come off the books. There will be 20m + in cap room and buying out Loui gives a couple more.

Re: Canucks Contracts
Maybe, but maybe not. He isn’t getting any faster or younger. On the right side they have Juolevi and Rathbone coming and hard choices will have to be made. If Tryamkin is signed, it’s probably a signal that Edler’s time with the Canucks is done. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 5:17 pmThey have to resign Eddy once the crackheads jack their booty. Re: Canucks Contracts
Buy out Loui will in reality free up about another 2 mil. Benn also comes off the books after this season too.Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 5:15 pm Yah, Edler, Sutter, Pearson, Baertschi, Spooner all come off the books. I did the math before, and it was 21 mil coming off the books at the end of this season, that was without buying out Loui. 23 mil if the Canucks buy him out too.
Demko, Petey and Hughes will probably take up about 19 mil of that 23 mil, assuming they are signed to bridge deals.

Re: Canucks Contracts
Regarding Eddy, due to cap pressure, I would offer him this if I was Benning, both contracts are for 1 season:Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 5:24 pmMaybe, but maybe not. 3 mil. 1 mil base salary + 2 mil in performance bonuses
or
2 mil - guaranteed salary.

The whole thing with Loui is if you buy him out you still have his stink around another two years.theman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 5:37 pmBuy out Loui will in reality free up about another 2 mil. Maybe they buy out Virtanen.

I believe, and the Dr can correct me if I am wrong. If the Canucks buy out Loui after this season (and the signing bonus) the cap hit is:Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 5:45 pmThe whole thing with Loui is if you buy him out you still have his stink around another two years.theman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 5:37 pmBuy out Loui will in reality free up about another 2 mil. 4 mil for next season
1 mil for the season after.
Bearable I think.
