CC Random thread

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Hey Baubles, how was the water level at Lac du Leach last summer. I was back working just north of there most of the Fall and water levels are astronomical. Ground water level is maxed out. Mud was fucking incredible. Late October dump of snow was followed by several days of rain leaving standing water where there is only standing water at the height of freshette on a wet year. Creek and river levels looked like the peak of breakup.

Everyone is Spring is going to be insane for water levels, flooding and slides.

DTES nasty Balmoral and the Regent likely getting torn down and developed into brand new secure low-income housing.
The City of Vancouver announced Friday that it now owns the notorious Balmoral and Regent single-room-occupancy hotels in the Downtown Eastside after reaching a settlement with the landlords.

Terms of the settlement, including value of the deal, weren’t released.

But the city said in a news release the deal with the Sahota family will now see BC Housing turn the hotels, which have a combined total of about 300 rooms, into “safe and secure low-income housing.”

That doesn’t sound good. Doyle might’ve been better off buying swamp land in Florida

Highest I’ve seen them in ten years. Some of the waterfront places took on water for sure. Luckily we are across the road from the water. We have a boat launch almost directly in front of us and the water was halfway up the launch on May long weekend. My buddy’s place at Sheridan Lake - his whole lawn was wet most of the season.

Similar where I was. Someone had their septic system pumped three times because groundwater was filling it and it was overflowing.

Breakup will be wild.

I believe that. We are on a bit of a crest and have created a drainage system that runs around our place and down a bit of a slope. As I said this is the craziest year I’ve ever seen for high water. A few years back it was bad and late ice off but nothing like this. There’s a few places in the bay below us that are waterfront but right on top of the water. Not my thing... probably grandfathered in from the past. Their places are fucking soaked.

You are pretty much fucked once the water gets in. It wrecks everything

Shouldn’t this be in the climate change thread, or do you really believe it’s a one off?

LOL. One year observation. What about 2007, when it was the second latest date in memory that the ice came off the lakes?

I'll will day the climate had changed in the past 198 million years since the copper gold deposits I was exploring were formed in an island arc setting off the coast of ancestral North America.

Flights to Maui last week for 350 last week. I’ll be curious to see how expensive travel is a year from now. Hargraves needs a vacay somewhere hot now let alone a year from now.

A Staycation down at the Astoria might do the trick
