Monahan and/or rats favorite johnny_hockey were awfully close to getting traded out before these 2 pickups.
I could see Johnny Hockey getting traded. I don't think the Flames are in a position to go for it.

Calgary keeps stealing from us. First like 4 players, now the jersey. There definitely is a resemblance. :D

The last time the Flames won a season opener was in 2009.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Yup and the streak continues. Now that we got that out of the way, I'm looking forward to the next game.

I have quite a few Flames jerseys - one of them being the "blasty" (horse head) one. It's my favorite one. BTW - I got the blasty jersey way back in 1998, so it's not like it hasn't been around for a while.

Bountiful is angry at Kevin Biksa. Not sure what he said but they are enraged.

As an asside. Why did he never fight Jarome Iginla? Ryan Kesler and Willie Mitchell both fought Iggy a couple times each, but never Bieksa. Same size, good players... KB3 in his day dodged a few good players/tough guys. I was at a game where he wouldn’t even look at Ryane Clowe. I also remember him dodging Jamie Benn one night. Bit of a spot picker as much as I liked him.

I might be totally talking out of my ass, but didn't Bieksa have hand problems for a long time? Like, almost 2 seasons he couldn't fight without risking busting up his hand? Or was that someone else on the team...

I mean him and Iggy played a decade against each other, so one would think they would engage at some point with the way they both played the game. And the thing with Clowe was over a period of year or so. He pummeled the fuck out of Patrick Marleau which enraged the Sharks. So I’m not sure about a sore paw there.

Bieksa said he could never play for the Lames like Marky or Tanev because he hated them too much as a canuck
