Other sources have also indicated Hoffman is only interested in signing if Mrs. Hoffman becomes Canuck's Social Media Director.

He suggests that team is none other than Hargraves' Vancouver Canucks.

If so, would Jimmy finally bite the bullet and pay the yuge cost to move out a bad contract in today's market?
Hmmmmmm

Not sure what I think of this. 2 things to consider:

How much in assets would it cost to clear that cap space

And

Is Hoffman worth it?

Really wish they re-signed Taffoli

Holtby, Schmidt and Taffoli would have made this a very successful offseason.

still not sure about Hoffman, would all come down to the cost to clear the cap space.

Edit:

Okay, his stats are quite good

Hoffman would feast off the dishes from Pettersson and Hughes. 30+ goals maybe more...

I wonder who gets the gate

I wouldn't want to sign either one to a 4-year contract.

But if Hoffman will sign for one year I'd be interested.

The cost to move a contract in these times would be a bitter pill to swallow though.

I think Virtanen/Juolevi would be the sweetener(s) in moving out Loui/Sutter.

Maybe a high draft pick as well?

Sigh...ya i think you're correct on the price.

Funny thing is I'd rather ship JV out than OJ now...strange twist.

Also, it would help ease the sting immensely if its Loui attached over Sutter though. Eriksson needs to not be a part of the canucks any longer

I'd like to leave the Hoff alone. He is rumored not to be budging from a $5.5 to 6.5 asking price, this for what scouts have described as a 'calorie free' goal scorer. I'm really hoping Jim can continue on with the good, prudent work he has done this off season and continue to bargain hunt.

Players must go! Bargains galore! :)

Not sure if we are not overvaluing Toffoli here a bit. Good hockey player, sure.. but we got to where we were with Toffoli playing when Boeser was hurt. With Boeser healthy (and looking good in the playoffs) do we really need Toffoli? The top 6 doesn’t get worse with TT gone, we just didn’t get better.

And it keeps the cap space free and allows for internal growth and development.

Erickson needs to ride the Bus to Utica.

Ya the Hoff only wants one year, 5.5-6.5 rumoured. Of course he'd love to play with Petterson and Miller and pad those stats. Line himself up nicely for a retirement contract.

If we can clear cap I'd grab him for a year, but no longer than that. Well I guess if its Louie that goes we could fit the Hoff in for two years.

So Markstrom becomes Holtby, Tanev becomes Schimdt, and Tofolli becomes Hoffman. Ok.

Not sure there Wids.

As it stands now we need Loui off the books next summer to make room for re-signings and replacements.....three of those re-signings will likely take up all of the currently projected available space.
