Watching how he skates, moves and shoots the puck...actually everything he does is eerily similar to Nik Lidstrom

Interesting insights from former Nuck goalie (for like 2 days), Mike McKenna (Starts around 5:50)
- Vegas got some good first chances, but didn't get alot of secondary chances. Demko eating up lots of pucks, no rebounds.
- Vegas are a territorial and shot generating monster all season, but it doesn't always translate to goals. Only a middle pack team for goal generated.
- Didn't get much in transition.
- Don't generate enough shots crossing the middle of the ice (lateral attempts, on and off the stick, east/west, cross-seam one-timers).
- Vegas are great at getting in the zone and funneling the puck, but puck movement not quick enuff and not making the Nuck's goalie work (moving laterally).
------> In other words, Vegas don't have guys with the elite skill (ie: Petey, Huggy, JT) who can make those plays.
- Nucks doing a great job packing up the middle taking those high percentage plays away.
Other tidbits:
- Vegas fans not happy with Marchessault, taking too many penalties and not enuff production, tends to be a streaky guy. HIs whole line has not been very good.
- Not enuff from W.Karlsson, P.Statsny.
- Schmidt and McNabb have been off and on.

Wow what did Vegas do to get this treatment or did the NHL think Vegas would suck for 10 years before becoming relevant.

It's funny though - had other GMs not bent over for McPhee and let them pilfer superior players to protect junk, they wouldn't be anything near where they are.2Fingers wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:28 amHoly hell in a hand basket, how in the heck did they pull that off.Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 7:40 pmNope.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 7:14 pm Vegas is going to get a taste of their medicine in Seattle’s expansion draft. The only difference for Seattle is GMs wised up and won't be ponying up in trades to protect certain players.
Karlsson, Theadore, Reilly Smith, Marchessault, Tuch are basically the core of the team, and were all part of terrible trades. Knights also loaded up on picks that enabled them to make tremendous trades like Pacioretty. Which is just as well, since McPhee's drafting has gone in the toilet since the expansion draft.

Yup, and I would add that Vegas feasts on turnovers. Stop turning over the damn puck and we can beat 'em.Todd Bersnoozi wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:28 am https://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040 ... -1.1518722

And honestly, Karlsson, Smith, and Tuch, were not players that anyone would have thought to build around in seasons past.ESQ wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:43 amIt's funny though - had other GMs not bent over for McPhee and let them pilfer superior players to protect junk, they wouldn't be anything near where they are.2Fingers wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:28 amHoly hell in a hand basket, how in the heck did they pull that off.Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 7:40 pmNope.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 7:14 pm Vegas is going to get a taste of their medicine in Seattle’s expansion draft. Theadore was regarded as an up and coming top-4 guy, but he wasn't a lock to be a bonafide top pairing guy.
Marchessault was coming off of a very good season in Florida, he's the only guy that you can look at in that grouping and say that you were definitely getting a player who was going to be a consistent top-6 forward. He went from being a nobody to a one hit wonder.....now he's a legit 2nd line winger who can give you 20+ goals and 55 points. Nothing to sneeze at, but he's hardly elite.
Moving on to the post-expansion draft moves.....Pacioretty and Stastny aren't exactly amazing. Good players, no question, but neither of them are elite playmakers, and neither of them are elite shooters, nor are they guys who possess that breakaway speed and top-flight puck control. They are solid above average players with good hockey instincts. Mark Stone is about the only guy who is a cut above in terms of consistent production at a good first line level, if you take away the first 100 games of his career he has been a winger who approaches a point per game pace consistently.
Vegas has always gotten it done through hard work and strong team play. I think someone here said they basically run a top line and then 3 second lines. I'd say they run a trio of 2nd lines (one being elite level) and a 4th.
Where we fall down is in experience and physical play. I think we have the two most talented players in the series in Pettersson and Hughes, and our top lines can match up with theirs, but our bottom-6 is not as consistent, and our full team transition from defense to offense is not as cohesive. Vegas was well coached by Gallant who did an outstanding job of bringing the initial group together and DeBoer tinkered and tweaked nicely to suit the new strengths that came with the changes that coincided with the arrivals of Patches and Stone.
I am very optimistic about where the Canucks will be a year, and two years, from now. I suspect that the 2020 Knights would not have a snowball's chance against the 2021 and 2022 Canucks.

Totally agree about how McPhee skinned those teams at the expansion draft. He bent Murray, Tallon and the Minny GM over and fucked them dry.ESQ wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:43 amIt's funny though - had other GMs not bent over for McPhee and let them pilfer superior players to protect junk, they wouldn't be anything near where they are.2Fingers wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:28 amHoly hell in a hand basket, how in the heck did they pull that off.Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 7:40 pmNope.Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 7:14 pm Vegas is going to get a taste of their medicine in Seattle’s expansion draft. Not sure their drafting is in the toilet though. They had a strong 2017 draft, no first round pick in 2018 and their top two picks in 2019 has good seasons.

Man, not a good sign. Demko has been great and we gotta ride him, but it'd be nice to have Marky Mark back sooner than later. Wonder what's up with Mikey D? I'd be more comfortable to have him here.Vancouver #Canucks@Canucks

This might seem like a small thing, but who else expects to see MacEwen in tonight instead of Rooster? We need a little more energy in our bottom 6 for game 7 tonight.
The Cup is soooooo ours!!!!!!!

Michael DiPietro is unfit to play. So they are replacing him with Kelly. He will need to go through the same routine as everyone did, entering theukcanuck wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 2:36 amLet’s hope it’s just an insurance call upTodd Bersnoozi wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 10:29 pmMan, not a good sign.
