When did you start smoking pot?
Summer of 1985. Was at a smallish party, just a handful of people, in Bogota, Colombia, and they passed this joint around.
I figured, if there is any time I should try this, this is probably it.

Turned out pot is not the gateway drug. Tobacco is. As a non-smoker there was no way I could inhale that shit and keep it in my lungs. I coughed like crazy. Made three attempts, then gave up. Have never tried it again.
Whatever you do, always give 100 %!

As young teens, my buddy and I first tried pot together.

Summer day, early afternoon, we were at the park with friends, skipping out of school.

Nothing. Didn't get a buzz whatsoever.

The next day we tried again... and thought maybe we felt a slight... something.

So we head over to the pool hall, which was a daily routine in those days.

Well I caught our reflection in a store window and noticed we were both grinning like Chesire cats!

This is when I realized we were as stoned as a worm in a tequila bottle!

I stopped and looked at buddy's face, he didn't seem to realize he was stoned yet

... but he had that big stupid ass grin going on!

I was about to mock the shit outta him for that stupid grin when I realized...

Wait... have I actually got that same grin??

(I didn't feel like I was smiling, but what though did I see in that reflection?)

I quickly turned and looked at my reflection in the storefront window.

YUP, SAME STUPID ASS GRIN!!

I was mortified... hey I had a cool dude image to uphold... so I tried to wipe that grin off my face.

No such luck.

Then I realized the humour of the situation and burst out laughing. And. I. Could. Not. Stop.

Buddy kept asking me: "What's so funny??" "What the fuck!!" "Why are you laughing?!!"

Finally I managed to blurt out, while pointing to our reflections...

"I can't stop laughing because I can't stop smiling!!"

Buddy's wheels started to turn, he looked at his reflection

... and a few seconds later, he too was embroiled in a laughing fit.

I think we basically laughed forever and ever amen.

True story.

7:30 and 3:30 starts our time as it was in the play in round minus the 9 and 11:30 starts, though we might see some of those on the weekend knowing the Americans and their sports viewing preferences.

Well ya, that was me, and obviously I wasn't alone in my sentiment. Like nuckertuzzi and others have indicated, at the time of the trade, why would any of us have believed that Miller was going to peak an become the beast that he is?? Hell, he may well be worth 2 first rounders, and a prospect or two! So yes, Benning really scored - best trade he's likely ever made.

Looks like Benning has been vindicated - we have a good mix of older and younger; he took a lot of criticism paying what he did for older vets, and now it looks like it's paying off (even Eriksson is showing up).

Anyways, it looks like something fantastic could be happening before us ... let's enjoy the ride! (I'm one of those late 50 dudes hoping the canucks win mr Stanley before we die). Cheers to all.
