Really impressed with this game. Been a long time since I've seen real camaraderie in a Canuck team like this. Was a pleasure to watch
and whenever they wavered the littlest bit, someone would throw a hit or do something to break a bad trend. Too many players to list
but really noticeable were Myers, Boeser, Sutter,(again), even Rousell with the banged up face! Marky solid again, air tight.
Travis even got his lines rolling good, which is a new but very good thing.
It looks like their on a mission and that's exactly what you want.
Don't get over confident though. It will help greatly if they can finish it tomorrow night. Yee-ha.

For the right deal, I still would.
You're not going to make it to home base with Micky that way buddy.

Oh yeah, Miller stood up for Petey and fed the POS Hartman some knuckle sandwiches too! I thought the price for him was a wee bit too high when the deal with first made. Now, this looks like a very good trade.

Like our version of Shanahan to Yzerman, JT Miller to Petey.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Best game Stechers played in two years. Didn't see that coming. Everyone stepped up for a change. Not too many real stupid penalties.
They could have got caught up in a goon match but they handled it just right.

Tyler Motte’s 7 blocked shots is a Canucks playoff record for a game decided in regulation

Cherry Picker wrote: Thu Aug 06, 2020 2:23 pm Myers is channeling his inner Chris Pronger, pricking out on everyone. Lots of penalties, but you win with that kind of Dman. Once the refs put their whistles away, which we all know will happen soon, he won’t get called for any of those penalties. Keep it up big guy!
Truth.
His penalties in game 2 bothered me more than todays. Everything today was warranted.
We would've been snivveling if there wasn't pushback for liberties taken

An ugly game by both sides that the Canucks won and deserved to win.

It was ugly because of the lack of flow. It was more than all the penalties and offsides. Players on both sides were having huge problems making and receiving sharp passes.

The whole game the thought I had was “quiet feet.” It describes goalies who minimize movement and put themselves in a position to effectively react instead of panic and predict. That described the whole Canucks team, and it was great to see. For years — back to the Crawford days at least — the Canucks seem overly prone to to chase and lose position when the the other team begins to sustain pressure. It happened in game one. It happened in the final 5 minutes of game 2. But Not at all today. They did great keeping their assignments. And that’s why the second chances were so few.

Minny, on the other hand, played like they had Canucks in their heads. They lost the plot when they were more interested in fighting with the Canucks and less interested in fighting for the puck.

I’ve been watching the Wild feed. For the first 8 periods of the series they’ve talked about how shaky Markstrom looks. Finally in the third period they changed their tune. A .95 save percentage can do that.... looks more like conn smythe to me.

Last comment, until now, I hadn’t noticed how much Myers is constantly slashing and cross checking. Perhaps he’s amped it up for the playoffs. The Canucks will get burned on the pp at some point, but it’s had its collateral effect. The Wild are less inclined to stick around the front for rebounds and, well, the seem more concerned with getting a shot in on Myers instead of a shot past Marky.

"Talked about it after the first. We probably weren't as sharp as we could be. I didn't think their team was either. It was choppy. Talked about finding another 10% to grind this game out. Our group found a way to win and I'm happy about it." - Green on start time
----------
"We've got a young group that hasn't played these kind of games yet. Every game gets harder to win too... It might not have been the skill that got us the win tonight, it might have been the will. As a coach, you like to see that." - Green
---------
"We've all seen Brock over the years. The shot and the goal scoring are great, but he's bought into the other parts of the game too. If you want to score at this time of year you have to get your nose dirty, he did that tonight." - Green on Boeser
---------
"They played a big part in it. There was a lot of other guys that played a part in this win for sure. Our players need to gain experience in these types of games but we're not here for just experience, here to win games." - Green on Boeser, Pettersson, Hughes
----------
"He brings a lot of energy to our group. He competes, battles, and wants to win bad. The one thing about Roussel is he's always bringing energy regardless of how much ice time he has." - Green on Roussel
---------
"Gotta be, hard not to be pleased. So much talk about our team over the last 4 months. About our deficiencies in the defensive game. Gotta give our team a lot of credit for playing the way you need to play in the playoffs... They're buying in." - Green on not allowing 5-on-5 goal
---------
"That's not surprising. Guys are going to stick up for their teammates. It's part of the game." - Green on Sutter and Stecher sticking up for Markstrom

Quinn Hughes (0-3—3) set a franchise record for points in a playoff game by a rookie defenseman to help the Canucks
take a 2-1 series lead.
The Calder Trophy finalist also tied the franchise record for points in a playoff game by any Vancouver defenseman.

Disagree. Beautiful 'flow' on display by #6.

Absolutely agree. Just ask the Sedins and any Canucks forward in the 2011 Finals getting constantly harassed by the behemoth. Anybody who's played forward at any level, even beer or rec, knows how that can mess with your head and fuck with your offensive game. Even worked on a big guy like Bertuzzi when Mitchell got in his head in '03.
