Exactly and good teams have the knack of losing a veteran and replacing them with a NHL ready younger fella. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 6:43 amNapkin brings a few of the missing intangibles the team desperately lacks on the back end. Sure you give up alot losimg Tanev but if he returns to 60 games a year max then how much are you losing?SKYO wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 2:25 am*Insomnia*Chef Boi RD wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 9:00 am I believe the Canucks would like to sign Tanev but got a feeling that signing Markstrom is priority to them, that’s when the dominos tip. It’s either Tanev or the cheaper option in Tryamkin who can play the right side and sign Toffoli
The big right wing trade won’t happen until Podkolzin arrives about the time Lind is knocking on the door. Same time we trade Demko
Almost forgot about Tryamkin aha, yeah he definitely prefers the right side.
And if looking at Tanev's blocked shots, he's good for over a hundred each season, but he's not a hitter type.
Tryamkin had 87 blocked shots in 66 games in his one season here, so it stands to reason he can get over 100 blocked shots easily over 82 games, plus he'd be one of our top hitters as he had 145 hits that year.
One thing to think about is Hughes ability to move the puck would have been a factor in Tanevs durability. Teams cant just focus on and seal CT off when his partner is the real threat for transitioning pucks.
I'm assuming Tanev is looking for his last big payday with term, the way he's playing in his contract year - probably playing thru tough injuries.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

Jake Virtanen + Olli Juolevi for Noah Dobson + Bellows
Isles gotta re-sign Barzal to $$$$ and are a bit weaker on LD depth wise.
& NYI got a slew of RD:
- Boychuk (m-ntc only 8 teams)
- Pulock (rfa, looking for big bucks, around $7M AAV give or take - reference: https://hockeybuzz.com/blog/Ben-Shelley ... 270/105684)
- Mayfield
- Dobson
- Wilde
I'd re-sign Toffoli first, then use JV as a trade chip to shore up our RD, unless Barrie takes a paycut to sign here IF he really is keen on playing in Vancity.

Nobody will be prying Dobson outta NY. He's their golden boy unfortunately for us...I've been thinking how perfect he would look on our team as wellSKYO wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 1:03 pm Jake Virtanen + Olli Juolevi for Noah Dobson + Bellows

Or Pulock if they are having problems re-signing him for whatever reason, but we need to include a cap dump. The Brown Wizard wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 1:25 pmNobody will be prying Dobson outta NY. They aren’t trading Pulock for Virtanen and a garbage prospect. You’d be lucky to get Mayfield for that package

Almost as dumb as thinking you could get Dobson or Pulock for your garbage offer. Why exactly do the Islanders want to trade their best D man who is 25 and their best young D man who is 19 for a third liner and a scrub prospect? You want either of those guys you add Podkolzin to Virtanen to start and they might not hang up. Juolevi is useless to them.SKYO wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 3:59 pmMayfield for Jake Virtanen and Olli Juolevi? lol give your head a shake bro.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 3:50 pm They aren’t trading Pulock for Virtanen and a garbage prospect. Yeah Juolevi has to get some proven NHL experience to gain any value, but he's definitely not garbage, he's just been unlucky in getting injured, he played great prior to injury on the Comets eventually getting top pairing ice time, penalty kill and powerplay time.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 4:10 pmAlmost as dumb as thinking you could get Dobson or Pulock for your garbage offer. pass it to bulis:
And Virtanen is finally coming into his own with some bulldog hits, speed galore and appears he finally got his shot back, could have got 20+ goals this season over 82 games. He'd be a better option over Brassard and their RW depth.Juolevi entered the AHL with lofty expectations preceding him. Though Juolevi had some early growing pains adjusting his skating to the increased pace of play, he managed to pick up one goal and twelve assists in 18 games played. His 0.72 points-per-game placed him first among Comets defencemen and sixth among all Comets players. At one point, Juolevi’s production had him leading all rookie defensemen in the league.
Before a second spate of injuries took him out of action for three weeks, Juolevi was leaned on heavily by head coach Trent Cull. Through the first 14 games of the season, Juolevi was a prominent fixture on both of the Comets’ special teams. As a member of the Comets’ first penalty-killing unit and first powerplay unit, Juolevi logged considerable minutes.
Juolevi was one of six players to play in every one of the Comets’ first 14 games. By my measures, Juolevi averaged the third-highest minutes of those six players with 317.19 minutes played. 22:39 estimated TOI per-game.
Where Juolevi made his presence known most was as a mainstay on the Comets penalty kill. During Juolevi’s first run of games, he logged the most blocks of any Comets penalty killer, and it wasn’t even close.
One of Juolevi’s primary assets that has contributed to his impressive points-production is his elite passing and vision. From the start of the 2019-20 season, Juolevi has displayed the same patient and crisp tape-to-tape passing that featured as one of the lone bright spots during his otherwise tragic 2018-19 campaign.
Juolevi’s teammate awareness has led to some gorgeous goals for the Comets.
Islanders Current lineup up front:
Lee - Barzal - Eberle
Beauvillier - Nelson - Brassard
Dal Cole - Pageau - Bailey
Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck
Ladd-Kuhnhackl-Komorov
https://eyesonisles.com/2020/05/30/isla ... axi-squad/
NYI offseason Brassard, Martin, Kuhnhackl are all UFA's. MDC looks like a bust.
Bailey can play LW/RW, Wahlstrom likely makes it.
But they'll likely need a top 6/9 RW.
Anyways another RD I'm interested in Pesce, seems like a younger Tanev, doesn't hit much, but blocks shots and gets a lot of penalty kill time, plus is a bit more talented scoring wise, gets way more shots on net.

SKYO I’d like any of those three guys but Pulock and Pesce are 25 year old top pairing guys. You aren’t getting them for Jake Virtanen and Olli Juolevi. Put Brock Boeser and a better prospect on the table and they may bite. I happen to think Dobson will be the best of those 4 guys. I can’t see any reason for the Islanders to entertain moving him.
