We're All Doomed!™ (the Conquest, War, Famine, and Death Thread)

The primary goal of this site is to provide mature, meaningful discussion about the Vancouver Canucks. However, we all need a break some time so this forum is basically for anything off-topic, off the wall, or to just get something off your chest! This forum is named after poster Creeper, who passed away in July of 2011 and was a long time member of the Canucks message board community.

Olympics now postponed. Likely to be held in 2021 but that is not firm yet. Still think we will see hockey finish the season?

Over the Internet, you can pretend to be anyone or anything.

I'm amazed that so many people choose to be complete twats.

That was the old mans office on the corner above the sign there and right above the office on the 3rd floor was where the old drunk Ray with the jail house tattoos used to live and babysit me and my bro for a case of beer

The drug touted by the U.S. President Donald Trump as a possible line of treatment against the coronavirus comes with severe warnings in China and can kill in dosages as little as two grams.

China, where the deadly pathogen first emerged in December, recommended the decades-old malaria drug chloroquine to treat infected patients in guidelines issued in February after seeing encouraging results in clinical trials. But within days, it cautioned doctors and health officials about the drug’s lethal side effects and rolled back its usage.

UMMMMM. Two grams is 4 times the recommended dosage! :hmmm:

A lot of powerful drugs are deadly if taken at 4 times the recommended dosage.

Donny didn't recommend anyone takes 4 times the recommended dosage.

And yes, pregnant women and folks with severe health conditions

... are not candidates for a lot of drugs most folks can safely consume.

Including chloroquine.

Yet chloroquine has saved the lives of millions of people over the years

... and has proven effective in clinical trials against COVID-19.

I'd say the author of your article is desperately throwing shade at Trumpy-poo

... at the risk of scaring some people away from the very medicine that could save there lives.

Too bad there is no known cure for TDS. :(
I think it would be better to let the doctors prescribe drugs rather than have inexperienced politicians spew advice about things they don’t understand during press conferences.

The man's wife told NBC News she'd watched televised briefings during which President Trump talked about the potential benefits of chloroquine. Even though no drugs are approved to prevent or treat COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, some early research suggests it may be useful as a therapy.

The name "chloroquine" resonated with the man's wife, who asked that her name not be used to protect the family's privacy. She'd used it previously to treat her koi fish.

"I saw it sitting on the back shelf and thought, 'Hey, isn't that the stuff they're talking about on TV?'"

The couple — both in their 60s and potentially at higher risk for complications of the virus — decided to mix a small amount of the substance with a liquid and drink it as a way to prevent the coronavirus.

"We were afraid of getting sick," she said.

Within 20 minutes, both became extremely ill, at first feeling "dizzy and hot."

"I started vomiting," the woman told NBC News. "My husband started developing respiratory problems and wanted to hold my hand."

She called 911. The emergency responders "were asking a lot of questions" about what they'd consumed. "I was having a hard time talking, falling down."

Shortly after he arrived at the hospital, her husband died.

"The toxic ingredient they consumed was not the medication form of chloroquine, used to treat malaria in humans. Instead, it was an ingredient listed on a parasite treatment for fish."

Oh so you don't think the President of America should give people hope by mentioning a soon-to-come possible drug treatment for a pandemic? :scowl:

And the reason you think that is because nutjobs out there might take the wrong medication (poison) without prescriptions? :scowl:

If Donny didn't give people hope, you'd look for a rise in suicide rates so you could point the finger at him amirite? :scowl:

(or some shit)

Yeah, too bad there is no hope whatsoever for you TDS sufferers there Per. :drink:
