Re: Expansion draft
Mcphee would have been smarter to pick Gaunce or Boucher.

Yeah ... no. Dorsett has a bad contract for sure but Erikssons and Sutters are far, far, far worse. Longer in term and far more in dollars for two essentially league average players who are rail thin and afraid to play in the tough areas. I'll suck it up with Dorsett who at least the plays with some testicles even if he is undersized for the role he plays.

Well Eriksson and Sutter will probably be the lone veterans up front after the Sedins announce their low-key retirement. I expect some rebound play from both this season, with a lot more skilled player to work with, chemistry should form...at least for Eriksson.
Sutter is indeed overpaid, anyways hoping he can be that all around utility guy I kept harping about before. ha
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.

I know I'm in the minority on this one... but I don't want to lose young Gaunce.
I can see him developing into a solid 3rd line centre eventually.

.
Taking that ancient conversation a step or two further:
At that point in the conversation most were thinking we were going to lose Sbisa or Gaunce.
We knew we weren't going to lose a player of any consequence.
And hey, Gaunce may yet become "a solid 3rd line centre"!
I mean, he'll never ever ever be as good as long-proven elite 3rd-liner Brandon Sutter of course.
But believe it or not, some half-brained folk preferred Gaunce to Sutter!

Re: Expansion draft
Pretty weak walk back there.
Getting rid of Sutter was to lose his bloated salary. It’s all a moot point as Vegas wouldn’t have likely chosen Sutter had he been available at that cap hit.

At that particular point in time you were stating (repeatedly) that Sutts was overpaid by just $500K.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 12:02 pmWhat kind of idiot wouldn’t want to purge a bloated contract like Sutter’s off the roster?Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 11:48 am Seriously, what kind of a moron prefers Gaunce to Sutter!

Re: Expansion draft
No, I wanted to lose Sutter’s contract. Hopefully that can be accomplished this summer. Neither of them is that good, though Sutter looks good on the 4th line...certainly compared to SchallerStrangelove wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 12:09 pmAt that particular point in time you were stating (repeatedly) that Sutts was overpaid by just $500K.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 12:02 pmWhat kind of idiot wouldn’t want to purge a bloated contract like Sutter’s off the roster?Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 11:48 am Seriously, what kind of a moron prefers Gaunce to Sutter!

Re: Expansion draft
Why? Because he was overpaid by 10% (according to YOU) at a time we were well under the cap with Sedins cap hits about to come off?Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 12:16 pmNo, I wanted to lose Sutter’s contract.Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 12:09 pmAt that particular point in time you were stating (repeatedly) that Sutts was overpaid by just $500K.Doyle Hargraves wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 12:02 pmWhat kind of idiot wouldn’t want to purge a bloated contract like Sutter’s off the roster?Strangelove wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 11:48 am Seriously, what kind of a moron prefers Gaunce to Sutter!

Re: Expansion draft
Lol whatever blows your skirt up Buds.
Sutter was coming off a decent season and at that time was maybe only 500 K overpaid. It fluctuates because he’s been so up and down during his tenure here. The last couple years he’s been injured more than he’s healthy. He needs to get the hook this summer if possible.
