Some people just know their hockey.
Even if they root for Toronto.

Thought the same, thank god he fell into our lap. The draft really is him and the 2 D men selected right before him.Mëds wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2019 1:32 pmWow.Per wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2019 1:16 pm Some people just know their hockey.

This may be revisionist history on my part, but I remember thinking that it would be dangerous to have a top 2 pick in the draft, because the "consensus" top 2 picks were underwhelming, and that's a lot of weight on the shoulders of a prospect.
But hasn't it come out (Wids?) that Benning would have taken Petersson with the top pick regardless of the lottery?

I don’t know about that. Wasn’t there a lot of smoke about them really liking Cale Makar too?ESQ wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2019 4:27 pm This may be revisionist history on my part, but I remember thinking that it would be dangerous to have a top 2 pick in the draft, because the "consensus" top 2 picks were underwhelming, and that's a lot of weight on the shoulders of a prospect.

A couple of misguided posters used to repeat how awful that draft was. It was actually a decent draft. Some good players that are actually making a big impact in the league today.

And if in some kind of fantasy, we actually won that lottery, and picked Petey 1st overall, the media would have ROASTED him out of town.
On the spot.
Lost his job over it.
