Am I the only sane person here that thinks Goldy will and should be gone?

Yes you were. Petterson, Makar, Heiskanen, Poehling, Thomas..and many others. it was an average draft year. 1999, 2006 were poor drafts.Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 7:00 pm And I wasn’t wrong.

Re: 2019 offseason
Because he drafted the Swedish Gretzky when nobody wanted him to, Jim Benning will go down as the greatest Canuck GM of all time. Game changer that draft

Seriously can we just stop this shit. So JB did his job, big wup.
Doc (or someone) asked blob to quit yakking on JB, then that should also be enough of how “great” JB is, no?
I think we all had enough of JB is a genius or JB is a pipe smoker or what ever Blob calls him.

good stuff Mick heh heh heh
Re: 2019 offseason
I think he should be given another shot and see a lot in his game, but I still don't think its better than about a 1/4 chance that he works out to be a reliable top 6 guy in this league. Nothing insane about cutting bait on that if there is a cost to having him on the line. But I am curious, what is that cost? Are you going to keep Leivo and waive Goldobin? To me, that's foolish. At his age, Leivo's not likely to get better and he played enough last year to show us that he's not good enough for a top 6 role and I personally don't think he skates well enough (edge work, quickness) or thinks fast enough or uses his body enough to be anything more than the kind of asset you can get on the waiver wire or for a 6th round pick anytime you need it.Cherry Picker wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 4:15 pm Am I the only sane person here that thinks Goldy will and should be gone?
Roussel is out until December. Assuming Goldobin comes to camp in shape and ready to work, I think he should get those first 30 games, including PP2 time and some time with skilled guys.

I doubt he'll ever be reliable, but I think his best season in the NHL would be 60-70 points. He's a bit like a Tanguay - in an offensive role, he can produce, but trying to smash him in to a square hole as a defensively-sound forward will never work.UWSaint wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 9:13 am

And that's fine, there's always room for one-dimensional offensive players, provided their production exceeds their faults. I think Goldy is close to that, he was on a 45-point pace before the healthy scratches. But he was healthy scratched in the middle of his best hot streak, which suggests Green is not the coach to give him the opportunity to be an effective, one-dimensional offensive player.

Re: 2019 offseason
The cost is losing games. The benefit is maybe developing a player who hasn’t shown much development in two organizations. Leivo and Motte are better for the team now. They can at least play decent defence. Goldobin may or may never be a decent player. I don’t think the Canucks goal should be to develop long shot projects this coming season unless they are in Utica. Their goal should be to make the playoffs.UWSaint wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 9:13 amI think he should be given another shot and see a lot in his game, but I still don't think its better than about a 1/4 chance that he works out to be a reliable top 6 guy in this league.
