Jim Benning invented wise.

We don't have to give up 4 first rounders if we sign Karlsson.

And that is why Mitch Marner is not getting an offersheet (Or anyone else).

And can they count on .930% goaltending again? Toronto has far more talent. What's interesting, since the Islanders game after tonight Toronto is 3-0 and Islanders 0-2.

Toronto has 4 60+ point players. Islanders have 0 this season.

Islanders are a hard-working and well coached team that simply lacks the talent to repeat this.
$35 Million vs $10 million
Marner/Tavares/Reilly/Matthews/Nylander/Kapanen/Kadri/Johnsson/Andersen vs. umm,,,Matt Barzal?

What are they going to do? Buuild their team this sunmer through UFAs? That never works.
You keep missing the point.

3 of those guys listed aren't signed next season. They only have $10million to sign 9 players, Marner will eat up all $10Mil if not more.

How are they going to ice a full team?

Isles have 35 mil to bring back whoever they want and sign one or two impact players...

THey have more than 10 million. 5.3 million of Horton's deal is going on LTIR. They can also move players to clear cap. I know you want to believe only "Big Names" can move, but leaves will move guys like Brown, Zaitsev, ETC to clear room.

What will the Islanders do? Give 7 years/9.5 million per to Jeff Skinner? Is that really the answer to getting better? You can't build through UFAs.

This is juicy

Doc, I think you need to tell Tuna, again, that they need to be cap compliant by the opening of the season and that Horton’s 5.3 doesn’t get bumped until the season starts.

Shoe is on the other foot. Ten years ago Frankenswede won the game in the shootout and Raycroft got the win. Canucks were a good team and the leaves were the joke.

I have a bad feeling the Canucks are going to feel like Sexy Sadie in the Accused tonight.

It's cyclical. Without Hutton and Spooner in the lineup tonight, it might be a severe beatdown.

Leaves fans in attendance will be happy.

An offersheet to Kapanen or Johnsson would cost a second at most.

And teams like the Islanders, who plan to make the playoffs henceforth (lower picks) and have capspace will offersheet Marner.

EDIT: If they offersheet Marner at $10M-per over 5 yrs the compensation is just two firsts, a second, and a third.

Spooner is awesome.

Easily one of my favourite players on the team.

Spooner is no great shakes. But he has set up some nice goals with his passing.

3 points in 6 games without riding shotgun with EP or Brock. We need every ounce of offense we can get at this point.

Not sure why everyone is pissing all over him (other than the contract) and getting a man-crush over Goldy when they are both terribly flawed players.
