In Toronto’s 6-3 win last night NILander recorded 1 assist and was 13th in Minutes played for Toronto. Only 5 other players played less minutes than NILander
No one cares. It doesn't hurt their cap. They got him on a very good deal.

And if you followed my complaints about Toronto, what have I told you? Mike Babcock does not play his best players enough minutes. Hyman playing much more does not make him better than Nylander. That's the coach.

And for proof of this: Matthews is on a 43 goal, 84 point pace this year in only 68 games and he's not top 80 in NHL TOI. Yes, you read that right. He's not top 80. Guy has a 1.28 PPG average.

Muzzin is 5th in TOI among D since the trade on the Leaves. Mike Babcock is insane. That trade was supposed to push Hainey down in minutes.

Another stat: Since late November, Andreas Johnsson is one of the top NHL scorers 5 on 5. What has Babcock been doing? Playing him on the 4th line. Does that prove Johnsson is worse than his useless boytoy Zack Hyman or the corpse of Patrick Marlreau? No.
Should fellow countryman Pettersson give $7 million NILander and his 3 goals some tips on how to score?

NILander 1 assist in a 6-3 win by the Leaves. 13th in time on ice. Only 5 other players played less

Apparently he was a superstar last night

Babcock is ruining him apparently
It's not like I pulled this complaint out of my @ss. I was yelling about thsi last year.

You feel Zack Hyman, Patrick Marleau and Connor Brown are much better because they are playing more right now?
They are playing more because the coach can rely on them. Nylander has always been a lazy player and for that will be in and out Babcocks doghouse

Nylander should watch video on Pettersson to learn how to play a 200’ game.
Not to score, obviously. And that's the issue. They aren't defensive specialists, they are put in roles to score a lot of goals and don't deliver, and hurt every line they are on.

The analytics on Marleau are ugly, He is killing every line he's on. Leo Komorov was like that last year.

If you want 39 year-old Marleau on a 6.3 million cap vs 22 year-old Nylander on a 6.9 million cap, go ahead and take him, please.

Marleau, Brown, Hyman are bottom 6 forwards that get too much TOI on an NHl elite team.

Matthews needs minimum 2+ more minutes per night, Nylander needs to be a top 6 winger, same with Johnsson. Team will be better.

Nylander is Babcocks Goldobin. Until Nylander corrects his patented lazy efforts he will forever be in and out of Babs dawghaus

Just to point out, Nylander was a 1st line winger the past 2 years.

Playing with Matthews

Now playing without Matthews - 3 goals 29 games

Kapanen is about to get a big contract for playing with Matthews

I will say this about Matthews, he makes his wingers look good

You don't want to mention points, do you?

And BTW, Kapanen is on pace for 50 points. Nylander in a full year never had less than 61 and scoring is up this year. Kapanene will be afforddable.

What you don’t understand is that Matthews makes players look better than they are, what he did with Nylander causing the leaves to overpay for his services massively is now doing the same for Kapanen. Matthews is worth every nickel but Nylander not. Dubas is about to run into a similar contract problem with Kapanen

Then please explain the Marleau/Hyman statistics the past 2 years...

William Nylander is the real deal, He's a blue chipper with fantastic skill. He'll score with anyone. He's got 9 points in 10 games on the 3rd line with little TOI as you pointed-out.

Terrible excuse. Matthews wingers are actually struggling aside from Nylander and Kapanen.

When The Cock was hired Toony was dancing all over this forum.

I predicted at the time that eventually he would turn on the new coach.

Easy prediction, it's a pattern with Leaves fans...

Yes your predictions are so solid. LOL.

Did you predict Toronto would be where they are in the standings, or how low their GA would be?

I am complaining of player usage. Nothing wrong with that. I truly believe a stats geek like Dubas cringes at how Babcock is playing guys right now.

And you thought Toronto fans would turn on Babcock because the team would be horrible.

Kapanen and Nylander are the kind of players who benefit from playing along side a player of Matthews ilk. Remove them from a player like Matthews, standing alone they don’t shine. These kind of players always get overrated, hence why Nylander is currently struggling and Kapanen looks good.

Hyman is what he is, same with Brown, Marleau needs to hang them up. They won’t benefit stat wise playing with Matthews as we see with Kapanen and saw with 3 goals Nylander and his $10 million salary he makes this season

I predicted Leaves would be good in the regular season and horrible in the playoffs.

I predicted Leaves fans would turn on the Cock because of said playoff horribleness.

6.9 is milions too much you say? HAHAHA. Kid would have gotten 80+ points this year. He actually should have signed a bridge deal and would have made more long-term.
Ya totally.

He's on, like, a Loui Eriksson-like pace. Best 30 point winger in the world.
