Everyone keeps saying this but it will not be easy for JB to get this done.

He just has to waive and it sounds like he'll be happy to go anywhere other than van anyway

Deaf ears, Doc. Falling on deaf ears.

Look what it cost the leaves to get rid of Marleau who had one year left and is a better player. We are going to get another shitty contract back

Theoretically he can rot in utica. Force him to retire...we have the cap space to ride it out.

Yeahno, Marleau is completely done.

Loui is a still a decent 3rd-liner/PK-guy on some teams.

Also any team that traded for Marleau had to buy him out.

Also, Dubas.

Marleau outsocred Lazy Louie easily and is fine defensively...

And also Ignatowski.

A smart GM in a rebuild would have gladly bought out Marleau and took the 1st.

But alas .... Ignatowski

Lol, Marleau was Leaves whipping boy all season, he's 6 years older than Loui.

He got 2.5 minutes more per game than Loui, and with better players, much to Leaf fan's chagrin.

Barrie. Not even a question. If the rumours are true he'll be signing on as a ufa next summer so no asset heading out is better
If they throw money around like idiots again this summer, Vancouver won’t have anything left come July 1, 2020.
Exactly. After they pay Boeser and Myers they won't have the cap space to do a Barrie deal next summer

But Myers is tall. He’ll be the new Zdeno Chara for some folks on this here message board

Ill hold off ripping on the team over myers until i see if they even sign him. The kid has ties to BC and might sign for edler coin...then its a decent contract. Hes still better than most of our defensive talent other than eddy and quinn.

Ha - my apologies for not sitting at home in my mom's basement waiting to make a 1 line response line some here. ;)

Strange is correct, it's $9 million in real cash. Loui seems like a weird guy, I wonder if he might just retire? As of July 1st he will have been paid over $55 million in his career and will have $9 million left, in a place he obviously doesn't like and with a coach that he doesn't respect. The game may have passed him by and perhaps he's aware and just wants to move on.

Regardless, I'd be shocked if he ever plays another game for this team, whether he's traded, bought out (unlikely given contract structure) or retires he won't be here next year.

Different situations - the leaves have a top young player they need to sign and zero cap space. The Nucks have the cap space to bury Loui if needed. They aren't in a bind like the leaves were - at least they won't be until the new contracts for Quinn and Petey come up in 2 years.
