Larry Robinson wins his tenth ring. That’s incredible.

How the St Louis Blues team was constructed:
Mostly through drafting and development with some recent aggressive trading:
It all started 11 years ago when they drafted Alex Pietrangelo 4th overall in 2008, one of their highest picks after 1st overall Erik Johnson in 2006 who was traded 3 years later for Shattenkirk ++)
2010 Schwartz #14, Tarasenko #16 (pick acquired from Ottawa for David Rundblad).
2011 Edmundson #46, Binnington #88 (pick acquired from Tampa for Eric Brewer).
2012 Parayko #86
2014 Barbashev #33, Blais #176
2015 Dunn #56
2017 Thomas #20
About a million small trades, and here are the notables;
Trades:
2008 - Stempniak, Colaiacovo traded for Steen
2013 - Jay Bouwmeester acquired from Flames for a 1st, 4th, Cundari, Berra.

Traded Reaves and a 2nd for Oskar Sundqvist + 1st (boom).

That's about right for length of a rebuild. They moved on from the Pronger era and the 25-straight playoff appearances, went into the toilet, and it took them 11 years from when they drafted their franchise player.
Too bad people here don't have that kind of patience.
Re: 2018-2019 Stanley Cup Finals
And the Blues were so close to blowing it all up mid-season as BobMac said on TSN, as they were dead last in the league, getting ready to draft a top 4 overall pick.ESQ wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 9:36 amThat's about right for length of a rebuild. Gonna deal off Alex Pietrangelo, Tarasenko, everyone was gonna be available lol, it's actually pretty insane the "flip the switch"

Steen-ly Cup.
His father approves.
And I'm thrilled that Boston lost.
