Why wouldn't Loui waive for Carolina?SKYO wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 2:01 pmDarling(canes) can't see LE waiving his NTC to go there.Strangelove wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 1:25 pm In our case we should only be concerned with the final year of Loui's contract.
So we can wait two more years or move him now with a 2-year "bad contract" coming back?
(Darling, Perry, Sekera, Phaneuf, etc)
Or attach a small asset (way smaller than what you suggest) and take no bad contract back.
Perry? thought you were hell bent on him not coming here, with his wonky knee.
Sekera is interesting, but I think the Oil will give him one more shot.
Phaneuf is good one, should look into that, but it seems like the Kings want to move out the old to bring in youth, however I can see the slower Kopitar being a good center for Eriksson, they could thrive together, he's the type LE played best with like Krejci and B Richards. *Get Blake on the line*
I mention Perry because we would buy out him and his wonky knees.
(like cash-strapped Anaheim is talking about doing)
Okay forget about Sekera for now and keep in mind I'm not concerned about the cap until 2021...
Perry buyout costs $8M in real dollars and Loui costs $12M for 3 years (pre-July trade cuz buyout)
… so y’might say Ducks get Loui for $1.33M per season (real dollars).
So Loui for Perry plus a small sweetener?
Perry’s buyout cap hit for 2021-22 and 2022-23 (years I care about) would be $2M though.
Darling played pretty much the entire season in the AHL last year, he’s done.
He is owed $7.1M in real dollars over the last two years of his contract.
If we make the trade on July 2nd Loui will only be due $9M in real dollars.
So y’might say Canes get Loui for $600K per season (real dollars).
So Loui for Darling plus a nice sweetener?
Darling can get sent down leaving us a $3M cap hit for the next 2 seasons.
(ZERO cap hit for 2021-22 and 2022-23)
Phaneuf, on July 2nd, will still have $10M real dollars owed him by LA on his contract.
Loui of course will have $9M owed him.
A straight up deal?
This gives us a third pairing dman who is much more easily bought out that Loui (Sens pay 25% of that)
… and Phaneuf’s contract is done by 2021, rather than 2022 like Loui.
These are just some players that occurred to me, there may be other, better candidates.
