Ottawa has some nice prospects - Colin White, Logan Brown, Chabot and Filip Chlapik

Shouldn't you be hitting the universal gym in the garage working on those curls for girls with Nickleback cranked on the boom box in prep for beer league ball season?

What a great game. A tough way for any team to lose. But here it is, surrender two, two goal leads and welll.....

I thought Canada was the better team. I thought the US goalie won that game for them. Hey, why not try Chabot in the S/O?

US is lucky. I'll give them that. Trump will be proud. Make America Great Again!

US wins the skills competition. Canada was the better team during the game. Can't wait for Cutoffs negative spin .

The IIHF s/o is even worse than the NHL ... Reusing players makes it even less of a team result

I don't even recognize a victory.
It's a bullshit way to decide the best team.
What's next? Deciding NHL playoff games or even the Stanley Cup this way?
I don't think so.
Nope! Screw international rules. Screw making hockey like soccer.
You play 20 minute periods, five on five till someone wins, no matter how long it takes.
I would say this no matter who the game was between.
So like this year, as other years in the past, THERE WAS NO WINNER!
Why? Because I said so.

The downside to trying to win "by committee", nobody skilled enough to win the breakaway challenge. Going 0/5 is pathetic, and some of those attempts were just that. Shame to lose that way, but credit where it is due the US fought back twice and hung around long enough to win. Canada was fine playing in the US end, but too often in our own corners we looked like a fire drill.

Our best player was clearly Chabot, named tourney MVP. Dubois is going to be haunted by that whiff for the rest of his life (and the fact he scored 0 goals). And while I don't agree with everything Dude has said about Strome, it's pretty clear our two 3rd overall picks should have had bigger impacts, not just stacked on the PP.

I thought Dubios was improving game by game, you can see something budding there over the last couple games. It is a 19 year old tourney, Barzal wasn't spectacular as an 18 year old but as a 19 year old he led the offense. The islanders have a beaut in Barzal the kid always makes something out of nothing

Would have nice to have Marner, Konecny, Chychrun. Patrick and Beauvellier.' But the Americans were missing some studs as well

Strome is awful 5 on 5 and due to his shot selection which is a major constant for him - get puck, blinders on, shoot!, because of it he's a turnover machine but 5 on 5 he's pretty useless

Jost was disappointing but like Dubios it's a 19 year old tourney. I imagine him and Dubios will be beasts in the 2018 tourney

Really impressed with Gauthier and Roy. A couple nice big bodied players the Hurricanes have there

Chabot - never knew he was this good. I liked a Clagues game, was disappointed in Bean but he's an 18 year old, should be a leader for us next year along with Clague. Probably will see 2017 draftees Foote and Hague on the team next year and maybe this 2018 stud - Merkely on D next year, our Dahlen

Fabbro wasn't great but I imagine he will be better as a vet next year.

A very good in your face, competitive energy player the Lightning have in Stephens. He's the best of the 5 prospects they had on Team Canada, I like Cireili's skill set and Joseph's wheels and stick handling but Stepehns is the catch. Raddyish was fading in the stiff competitor no of the game. The coach should have made him the 13th forward not McLeod. Raddyish is butter soft and McLeods speed and tenacity would have been the better option

Also impressed with Speers and Dube

Losing Myers was a kick in the teeth, he was neck and neck as good as Chabot if not better and how the fuck does Myers go undrafted, fuck the Fltyers future on D looks good, Provorov, Ghostisbehere, Sanheim, Morin

Really too bad Nolan Patrick wasn't there, the Hischier vs Patrick story would have been a nice side story, but man oh man is this Hischier good. Same can be said about Liljegren as he battled mono at the start of the season. The consensus top 3.

Patrick, Vilardi and Tippitt will be nice additions next year if they don't make the grade. Keep an eye out on this WHL wizard D-man named Makar.

Where was Chyzowski in all of this? Was he even at selection camp

The game deserved no loser, unfortunately there has to be one

Chef Boi RD wrote: Wed Jan 04, 2017 9:00 am Is there no doubt that Dahlen is the 1st overall pick in the 2018 draft? We might even see the top 2 picks of the 2018 draft being two defencemen with how good this Canadian kid Ryan Merkely is playing with the GuelphnStorm. Apparently he is looking better and putting up better numbers than Drew Doughty was at the same age.

The Swedes look tough. Regarding their 2 top 2017 rated draft prospects - Pettersen and Andersson. Andersson so far is looking far better than Pettersen even though Pettersen seemingly gets the higher ranking on most lists out there. Don't like Pettersen much, he's a real string bean - 6'-2" 165 lbs, that's worse than Brad Ference the Junkyard Dawg.

In fairness to the Dude, that post was 6 months before the draft and he eventually got on board with Petey before the draft.
