We'll see what comes of the kid. No doubt he has a good shot and offensive instincts - at the junior level. The question was whether his head and heart would match his hands. The kid is not without his question marks. That said, definitely a good piece on the team for this tournament.RoyalDude wrote:Anthony Mantha - another classic Detroit Red Wing steal at the draft. A Giant with a great skill set.
Says a lot the Sutter puts him with younger / draft eligible guys. His two-way game is that strong.RoyalDude wrote:Definitely nothing flashy about Horvats game. Keeps things simple, definitely in that straight forward Patrice Beregeron/Ryan O'Reilly territory if all goes well with his development, most likely our two -way, shut down centre of the future, put in key defensive situations with the game on line
Very invisible.Not impressed with Laughton
Offensively talented. Lacks smarts. That too many ice penalty was 100% his fault, and he's lucky Hudon picked up his tragic drop pass and finished it off.Still very impressed with Mantha, sees the ice well for a big guy
Not their whole career, just his impact on that game and in this tourney thus far. He doesn't look like an NHL player amongst juniors. He looks like a junior player. Don't understand the hype.RoyalDude wrote:So you judge a players entire career potential from a too many men penalty? I would say that every NHLer has taken a too many men penalty in their hockey careers
Did you watch the same pass? Even Ferraro called him out. Drouin moved in behind him and he put it to nobody.Tragic drop pass? To the slot? To Drouin who missed it? That was as tragic Kassians blind pass to the slot that miraculously ended up on Tanevs stick resulting in a goal. Your funny
Mantha is the Red Wings' replacement for Franzen.Southern_Canuck wrote:Mantha is definitely not a puck carrier - he looked terrible when he took passes near the Czech blueline and bumbled it to the side boards several times, killing the offense. His bread and butter seems to be less than 10 feet from the net, especially on the power play, and he looks like a very limited player.
I'm surprised RD that you like this player because he seems somewhat one-dimensional.
Maybe he'll make the NHL and bang in goals like Tim Kerr, but I'd be surprised.
