Roberto Luongo for Carey Price? Would you do it?
Swap of hometown boys. Both goalies have had their good and bad moments in their respective cities. Price is younger, Luongo is arguably better. Both are coming off somewhat bad seasons. Both have had horrendous playoff performances that have led to their mental strength being questioned. Price's cap hit is higher, Luongo's contract is longer. Canucks get rid of a goalie who doesn't really want to be here, and Montreal brings home a local boy who can handle the media. Would you do it? I'm guessing most Habs and Canucks fans would not like this deal.

If we could sweeten the pot and somehow get Gallagher included I'd be all for it.
Luongo+Burrows = Price+Gallagher

Yeah, OK. If I'm Marc Bergevin I'm ALL OVER THIS!!!!
A 34 year old goaltender with a long contract and a 32 year old 2nd line forward that will be "overpaid" in a couple of seasons.....and I'm sending back a 25 year old future starting goaltender and a 21 year old heart and soul guy.....
LMAO!

We would, Montreal wouldn't.

Isn't there already a ridiculous trade thread?

Why would the Canadiens trade a 25 year old with 6 years left on his contract for a 34 year old with 9 years remaining on his?

More pipe dreams. Luongo is obviously untradeable.
Prepare for many more years of weak mental fortitude and playoff meltdowns. At least we won't be very good for the next 3 or 4 years so just making the dance will be a win of sorts....

Pipe dreams indeed. The question was would I do it? Yes, I would.
Would they? I doubt it....a swap of French players for western boys is possible if the pot is sweetened.
Is Price the answer in Montreal? I've never really thought so. How confident are they w/ that long term?
They drafted a French goalie in the 1st round.

Should be Miller for Lu instead.
Can the Canucks just win a Cup within the next 5 years.
Re: Roberto Luongo for Carey Price? Would you do it?
Sweetening the pot is the only way it happens. So.....
To Habs: Lou+Burrows+1st 2014+Schroeder
To Van: Price+Gallagher
Would you do that?

That's too much...
Why would you swap head case goalies, with us selling off extra stuff to do it?
Would it not make more sense to use those assets to build other strengths if your going to have a head case in net anyways??!?

Re: Roberto Luongo for Carey Price? Would you do it?
I don't think Price is a head case, I think he's a top talent who, according to rumours, parties a bit hard in Montreal and loses his focus.....he's also only 25 years old and playing on literal the biggest and most scrutinized stage in the hockey world.Madcombinepilot wrote:That's too much...

We are selling of assets because we would be getting a serious influx of youth in return for a couple of guys on the backside of their careers. And with Horvat and Gaunce in the mix, Schroeder is probably not going to be a real factor here, and the Habs like smaller forwards....

Re: Roberto Luongo for Carey Price? Would you do it?
Ignoring most everything I'd do it. The problem is the extra $1.3 mil in cap hit Price brings. No way the canucks could do that this off season and give themselves any chance to fill in holes. Heck, it may even prevent them from filling holes with high ELC guys as those typically have a cap hit much greater than league minimum.
Perhaps Luongo has a great season this year and Price has some struggles. Might be enticing to the Habs at that point.
